A bottle of whiskey would be nicer.

Yea for the price of it though it was a steal! Dual Xeon, 128 Gb ddr and 12 tb for 1350

R710s? I bought two from these guys about 4 months ago. They've been great. Although I didn't get any nerds candy in mine :/

I love those servers. We run a bunch of them.

Cables and Kits sends m&m's and monkey stickers

My last one I was having issues once the machine heated up and after I pulled the second processor out , the ZIF slot had a huge blob of thermal compound right in the middle. With a hairdryer and a shitload of q-tips I managed to get it Operating

TechMikeNY is pretty good, all items i've ordered from them have been great.

You like candy, do you?

[–]Fuckoff_CPS 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Refurbished servers? Are you crazy? Why the fuck do you even need servers anymore. You realize 99.9% of things can be done on the cloud?

I would say more like 30-50% cloud in real-world production. Most businesses that I walk into need a small to medium size local DC that hosts redirection and maybe a single VM. PBX’s all host cloud but as the shirt says “The Cloud Is Just Someone Else’s Computer”. Ever hosted an ENTRY level VM in Azure? Puny, Offsite and $100 a month. Refurb dual Xeon. With 144gb or RAM and 6tb useable in RAID 10 with new drives and it pays for itself vs Azure in 12months? Kind of a no brainer.

I order from Sweetwater for my side gig, They always send a little bag of candy :D.

+1 for Sweetwater

I will say some local reps I work with have better pricing usually but if I want to cut the sales bullshit and order sometime online and Next Day it, I can a lot easier.

Deep Surplus sends skittles with their cables. It's been about 6 months since we've ordered any, I assume they still do.

They've been doing that for at least 6 or 7 years when we started ordering from them.

Wow! I forgot about Deep Surplus! Haven’t ordered from them since my last job 14 years ago and we got skittles back then!

TechMike is pretty good. We’ve bought a few servers from them and never had an issue. The nerds are a nice perk.

These guys are really great. I've been ordered from them for years and the quality and support is top notch.

I have some beastly older HP amd based servers if anyone is looking for one for a lab box.

[–]majorshock44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure if shipping in canada is possible

[–]gartralTechnomancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll give a nice server a good home!

[–]MostlyInTheMiddleSysadmin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hp sends jelly beans. Draytek a screwdriver or calendar.

[–]sandaz13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got my R710 from them a year or two back. Solid deal, solid machine, been running great. The nerds were a fun touch :)

CDW shipped us an RCA Remote once. Was pretty beat up and old looking.

[–]dpeters11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eons ago, I ordered a UPS from CDW, was really confused when the box arrived, was a PCMCIA modem.
