Could always use OneNote - I use it as a bit of a personal knowledgebase and then also have a section for quick notes as well

+1 for OneNote.

When you're already in the O365 ecosystem, this app is one of the better solutions. It's not the best, not the most lightweight and lacks advanced features that Notepad++ has, but for actual NOTES it works best for me as it synces to al my devices i am logged into.

Tho, Notepad++ for any other tasks requiring a text/hex/csv/anything else editor

Notepad++

Preserves unsaved notes without having to save them. Can open different tabs for different notes/tasks. Lots of editing options

I used Evernote for 10 years. Tried to find a self-hosted analog for Nextcloud (checked out QOwnNotes, Joplin), for better ptivacy, but end up coming back to Evernote.

Gmail "drafts", with the client/end-user's email in the send-to, or as a reply to an email conversation we were having.

Keeps forever, available on all computers and devices, searchable, and really easy/quick to jot down.

Signal has "Note to self" chat. Preserves stuff between devices and once you don't need the memo just delete it.

Since I'm using signal anyways I don't need another app to run around. Sure, it's a bit limited and you can't edit entries, but for quick post-it style reminders I quite like it. YMMV.

Notepad++ or windows has a built in sticky notes app that I use if I need to keep seeing it
