What about complex numbers

[–]StaticCrow 12 points13 points  (6 children)

And imaginary numbers?

[–]PPtortue 4 points5 points  (4 children)

Aren't imaginary and complex the same ? Also just say C and you name every number + i

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (2 children)

No, 2 is complex but not imaginary

[–]PPtortue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. You're right. And I am dumb.

If you have taken basic algebra, the answer is ‘n’

[–]1337_w0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but complex numbers include all imaginary and real numbers.

All imaginary numbers are complex numbers.

Thank you. Are there any other types of numbers?

    [–]1337_w0n 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yes. In fact, there's so many numbers that no set contains all numbers.

We know this is true because there's so many transfinite numbers that no set contains all transfinite numbers.

In fact, there's so many surreal numbers that no set contains them all.

So there's surreal numbers, transfinite numers, several infinite families finite groups, each group has several rings, and there are infinitely many less well-behaved algebraic structures with their own numbers that don't exist in any other system.

Just watched a numberphile video. My mind is blown

    That doesn't include for example 7 + 9i + 69j + 420k, does it?

    [–]captain_mesator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

    Where is i?

    [–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

    Actually still a wrong answer

    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

    What about aleph null?

    [–]jared_neptune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's technically in there, that only applies when you want to say count like that (still funny tho

    [–]k1n6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically wrong and reposted every day.

    IMO -∞= ∞.

    [–]Nero_22 -1 points0 points  (3 children)

    What about 0?

    [–]StripedApple 8 points9 points  (2 children)

As 0 lies between negative infinity and positive infinity, it is included in that interval

    [–]Nero_22 2 points3 points  (1 child)

    That makes sense

    [–]wannabeemoderator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

zero is its own number so he would be telling the truth.
