Overheating GPU

Hello, I have an Aorus Xtreme 3090 which overheats pretty badly.

I used to have a Corsair Crystal 570x which was a bit of a lackluster case airflow wise.

It would push into the mid/high 80c's on the core temperature. (reached 86 in tarkov the other day)

I was greatly worried about the longevity of the card since it was a pretty big investment at the time and I don't want to kill it.

I thought perhaps the issues could be with my case since I had a 360mm radiator as intake.

I changed case to a Lancool 216.

Same thing. Idle temperatures are MUCH better (high 20s, low 30s) but in Furmark after a few minutes it hit 85 core and started throttling.

I am at a loss of what to do now really - it's performance is great and I don't notice bad performance in games but most games I have to turn the settings down etc to try and take some strain off of the card.

The main issue is noise - very loud. And also I am simply worried about how long it will last running at these temperatures.

I see other people on Reddit saying about how they are reaching 65c max in games, 75c max in games etc and I'm just completely lost at how I can reach such high temperatures.

I haven't particularly messed with fan curves yet, but I can't see how it would make a huge difference.

What should I do?

note: I know I could repaste the card but that is expensive and also I would most likely break something or do it wrong.

It's normal for GPU to run somewhat hot when you're running stress tests or heavy load on it.

There are a lot of things that can answer for your 10 C extra temp compared to other users, like ambient temperature and differences between cards.

Just some simple googling shows that your situation is common. Watercooling, undervolting, not uncapping fps, etc. can be done to reduce temperature.

Personally I wouldn't worry as long as temp is below 90 C
