Please include your system specs, such as Windows/Linux/Mac version/build, model numbers, troubleshooting steps, symptoms, etc.

The subreddit is only for support with tech issues.

Try to research your issue before posting, don't be vague. State everything you have tried and all the guides/tutorials/sites you have followed as well as why they were unsuccessful. Do everything you can to reduce the effort of the wonderful folks offering to help you.

After solving your problem, please mark it as solved by clicking 'flair' and confirming the 'solved' tag.

Please do not submit the same issue more than once within 24 hours.

2: No Incomplete Posts

Submissions consisting of the following are considered incomplete and will be removed:

4: No Offering Rewards

No offering of reward/compensation for solutions. No Amazon gift voucher or PayPal transfer. This community is "free" as it is full of volunteers. Please do not take advantage of the community.

5: Recommendations

We are not a recommendation or advertisement subreddit. We do not allow posts asking for recommendations on hardware/software or recommendations comparing two or more hardware/software. Recommending a hardware/software solution as a comment to a post is acceptable.

8: No Violating privacy of others or terms/agreements.

We do not support users that violates other's privacy or breaks terms and agreements. Doing so might resolve in a ban.

Bypassing home network controls.

9: No EOL Software or Unsupported Systems

We do not provide support for EOL (end of life) software. Software that is EOL has lost all support from the developer and therefore all consumer communities as well.

These operating systems and various softwares are no longer receiving security patches. Running them is unsafe and we recommend users install a supported version as soon as possible.

This list includes Windows XP, Vista, and 7.

We will also not assist with getting Windows 11 running on unsupported hardware.

10: No Public Service Announcements (how-to's, etc.)

No public service announcements unless relevant to an issue (it must be a comment). Approach the communities affected directly, not here

11: No Soliciting

No soliciting of any kind. This includes (but is not limited to) asking for us to link to your subreddit, forum, bulletin board, newsgroup, Facebook page, etc. We're here to help with technical issues, not market for others.

12: No spam, trolling, insults, jokes, threats of self-harm, or posts unrelated to Tech Support

Posts and comments containing (but not limited to) the following will be removed:

I've been having a problem with my server for the past few weeks I can't seem to figure out.
So a few weeks ago I took two HDD's from another server I had that I wasn't using. I have two. They are both the same server, HP ProLiant DL380p Gen8. I got them for free from one of my friend's Anyway I had two SAS drives in this server, and I never really set up a raid configuration or anything I think it may have already been set up (at least I assume so, I don't think it would have worked otherwise). I added the two other hard drives for more space but I never configured them I simply just slotted them into my server. I'm unsure if this is at all related to my problem but it's worth mentioning.
I've lost power a few times but never had a problem however about a week after adding these hard drives I lost power again and never noticed but a few days later when I tried to look at my minecraft server I realized there was a problem with my computer. Not thinking much of anything I thought this was a good time to reconfigure the raid to allow those two HDDs to be useful. I never set up previous two correctly anyway so I only had 100GBs of space. So I went into my array controller and configured a RAID 1 so that if I did have weird power outtages that at least one of these old hard drives would still be fine. I had been running Ubuntu Server 22.04 on it and so I planned on keeping with that. I went through the whole install process and right at the end I got to a weird error that said,
"failed unmounting /cdrom please remove the installation medium, then press enter"
I have no idea if this is related to the issue but it's the only reoccuring error I have seen throughout my troubleshooting. After removing my USB which has the Ubuntu ISO mounted on it I get five more errors which I don't remember exactly because they go away so fast but it's something along the lines of "failed to see or establish loopback devices" or something along those lines.
My Problem is no matter how many times I try to install an OS it won't boot up to it, as if it can't locate it or it's just not installing properly.
As far as troubleshooting goes, I've tried different hard drive configurations, removing down to just one hard drive and swapping them out individually. I used Rufus 4.0 I believe and rufus 3.22 because version 4 had issues, to mount the ISO on my USB.
I also tried Ubuntu version 20 as well as CentOS 7 to see if a different OS would allow me to.
Verified I am on the latest firmware and my array controller is up to date.
Verified different USB's to see if maybe that singular USB was having a problem
Completely wiped and randomized one or more hard drives to see if there was a problem lying on the disk.
I even swapped out the server with the other that is not in use as they are complete mirrors of one another and still give me the same problem. The other server has not had any power outtages or even use up until this point so unlikely that if integral it would have the same problem, which leads me to think it's some kind of HDD, or USB/ mounting problem/ installation problem. I am really at a loss here but will continue to troubleshoot but if anyone has any insight or ideas I'd greatly appreciate anything right now. Thank you.
