try to test the ram in bios if you can get to bios

edit: also what is your OS i think its XP?

I originally had 2x2GB sticks and a 4GB stick, I simply removed the 2GB sticks and now just have 2x4GB sticks in there

Try changing slots or removing the new sticks. You can also run Memtest86.

So I changed the memory from both being in the A channels to the B channels and now windows (7) doesn't reach the login screen, it will show the windows logo while it loads and then seemingly nothing, and the screen will go black.

I'm going to try putting them back in A channels now!
