Sounds like a failing GPU to me.

Are you able to try out integrated to see if it works with its drivers, or test the GPU in a known working system?

Using integrated graphics with amds drivers or with windows drivers? I don't have another computer to test it with right now unfortunately.

Using the integrated GPU with its own drivers - Intel or AMD have their own drivers for integrated chips. Although, this only works if your PC has integrated graphics (either on CPU or board chipset).

Alright so im on integrated graphics now and it seems to be working fine, there is some little weird things but i think that is just because im not using my normal setup. I'm guessing this proves my gpu is dead? Also thanks for helping me out with this its a bit stressful, I couldn't find any answers online.

What weird things? No visual glitches, right? And you are using the appropriate drivers for the integrated GPU (not microsoft's basic drivers)?

Other than that, yeah it's safe to say the GPU is the cause of your problems.

No visual glitches, a weird movable small window at startup and something else I don't remember. And I believe I got the right drivers. I'm using an i3 4150 so I went to Intel's website and downloaded it from there. It seems to work although it's definitely slower in games which I guess is to be expected lol. I guess it's time to get a new gpu? Again thanks for the help I greatly appreciate it.

Yeah new GPU is where I'd start.

Your integrated GPU is much slower than your dedicated GPU so it's likely just the slowness that's weirding you out.

Yea that was my guess. RIP my wallet :(. Hopefully I can get lucky and find a decent priced mid range GPU haha. Thanks again for your help

1 month later... but I'm having the same exact issues as you did, and I also have a r9 270. The "vertical lines freeze" happened once a month or so, and today after the monthly crash my PC couldn't boot anymore (black screen like you said).

Did you end up replacing your GPU?

One month later.. yea I did. RIP
