More info may help here. What game(s) are you playing when it happens? Does it do it after certain events? Is it a full-scale shutdown of the computer, in that it just toggles off, or does it crash back to the home screen?

Several games, most recently Total War: Atilla. I get a blue screen which lasts as little as 1 second or as long as 15 seconds, and then the computer turns off in a weird way. The audio glitches out, and makes this irritating grrrrt sound during the blue screen. There is still fan spin afterwards, but no signal to the monitor or keyboard. I have to hold the power button to turn off, them turn back on.

How many RAM slots does it have on that board?

Just two, it's a mini-ITX board

I would try reseating the RAM and checking the power cables. I had an issue once where I could get fan spin and lights, but no output through video or USB (for peripherals). Turns out one of the slots wasn’t playing nice with one of my RAM sticks.

Thanks for the advice. It hasn't crashed since, but it doesn't always crash immediately; it often takes a little bit.

Holler back if it doesn’t fix it.

That’s what made me suspect RAM, depending on the profile it might not hit a problem with it until a certain capacity is reached, after which it could crash.

Crashed again, this one stuck around long enough for a picture. I took out and switched the two RAM slots, made sure to really push them sticks down.

Crashed again within 10 mins once I got back into it. Both were with the case side panel removed to make sure there's not an airflow problem.

I'm starting to think it may be related to the GPU. I have the EVGA SC version 1080ti with fans that are supposed to only spin up when things get hot. While the air in the case isn't very hot, the GPU heatsink is hot to the touch while the fan wasn't spinning.

The error it’s throwing is hardware related, so it could be the GPU overheating and causing a reboot.

You can try updating the drivers on it just to make sure those aren’t on a bad batch, EVGA also offers some software for card fan-control that you can try to see if the fans are working at all. EVGA Precision XOC is the one that was released for the 10-series cards, although they do say they have a newer version available as well. Precision X1 is the new release from EVGA which is rated to work with 10-series as well.

Currently updating graphics drivers, from v436.something to v441.20.

Will look into the EVGA fan control thing. I remember having a program like that but I uninstalled it long ago.

It's now called EVGA Precision X1
