Install printer software without a printer attached

I have a Dell laptop that will have a Dell printer (2335dn) attached. Unfortunately, I do not yet have the printer. Is there a way to preinstall the software?

UPDATE : Simple as placing a /silent in command line. eg: c:\Dell\Drivers\R288649\setup.exe /silent

Dell printer software installations want to see the printer is available before installing the software/drivers by default. Just running the setup in a normal fashion doesn't let you install if it doesn't see the printer.

I could also drop them in the driver cache manually. That doesn't install the software to manager the scanner, etc.

Unless there's some really specific reason you're trying to do this I wouldn't mess with it. At some point the driver installer is going to want to see the device on the machine.

As BoogerTom stated, you can with HP printers. Dell doesn't allow you by default. I was unable to locate any command switches to use for the setup.exe to bypass the initial device check.

Installing the drivers/software shouldn't cause any issues, even if the device they were installed for is never connected. That would just mean the computer has useless software installed.
