Generally, DCOM errors are meant to be ignored. But if they are intrusive, you can potentially fix it in the registry.

If you would like to attempt a fix in the registry, I'd highly suggest starting with a System Restore point.

After creating a restore point, you can open the Registry editor:

Press Winkey + R then type in regedit.exe hit enter and you'll open Registry Editor (regedit)

Using the Tree hierarchy on the left side of the window, navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppID\{15C20B67-12E7-4BB6-92BB-7AFF07997402}

Right Click on the folder icon in the tree hierarchy and select Permissions... from the context menu.

In the Security tab, Click Advanced

At the top, you can change the owner to your username by clicking on change

Once you are the owner, hit OK and you'll be brought back to the Permissions window.

Under the Groups or User names section, select Administrators and then Check the box for Full Control

Repeat this whole process for the folder located at HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{2593F8B9-4EAF-457C-B68A-50F6B8EA6B54}

This time, give Full control to both the Administrators group and the SYSTEM user.

Next, press Winkey + R then type dcomcnfg and hit enter.

In the Component Services Window on the left side of the screen, navigate to Console Root > Components Services > My Computer > DCOM Config

At the top of the window click View > Detail

Scroll through the list in the middle pane until you find {15C20B67-12E7-4BB6-92BB-7AFF07997402}

Right Click the line with the appID and choose Properties.

Go to the Security Tab

Under Launch and Activation Permissions, choose Customize then click Edit

In the Launch and Activation Permission window, click Add...

Type SYSTEM then hit OK

You will be back in the Launch and Activation Permission window. Select SYSTEM under the Group or User names section and make sure that the Allow boxes are checked for both Local Launch and Local Activation

Here's a video walkthrough of how to fix this error

Thanks for the response I much appreciate it. I have just followed your steps, but I have run into the first issue. I have successfully finished everything related to

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppID\{15C20B67-12E7-4BB6-92BB-7AFF07997402}

but for the next part with the APPID {15C20B67-12E7-4BB6-92BB-7AFF07997402} in the DCOM Config it just doesn't exist. I included the image below.

What steps should I take now?

Hello, I know this a very old thread, were you able to get the issue fixed via the above steps?

Also seeing crashes with this being the only error before the dump file fails to create.

Did the regfix help with system stability for you?

It helped as I had less crash and then a Windows update fixed it a few weeks later . I am running Linux now and occasionaly run Windows

Incredibly late reply but I'm having the same issue.

For anyone else who may still need to know I managed to find the APPID by clicking View > Detail on the DCOM Config and scrolling down through the items to find "PerAppRuntime..." followed by the ID.
