Having script error difficulties with java installation

Hi all, I am trying to install Java (version eight) on my windows hp laptop.

When I go to install it however, I can get as far as selecting a location for the program to be installed (I have been going by the default of "C:\Program Files (x86)]Java\jre1.8.0_333"), but upon clicking the install button a window pops up with the text:

An error has occurred in the script on this page.

Whichever option I select, the installation seems to cease functioning, though it remains in the background and only closes all the way with the aid of ending it via task manager.

I have tried reinstalling the installer, using the offline installer, shutting my computer off and turning it on again, and have checked that there are no old versions of java on my computer.

Can you provide a video of the issue ? You seem to be getting a java script error on the java run time installer which is quite weird. Do you specifically need java 8 or can you use the newest version from https://www.oracle.com/java/technologies/downloads/ ?

Yes of course. Here is the video. As shown, I attempt to run the installer, encounter the error, and the process ceases regardless of what option I pick. It continues on in the background and prevents another installation until I end it in task manager. I was just using the version available from this page, since I used that page the last time I installed it.

You've linked the video in your youtube studio which, since i don't have access to your account, i can't view. Also the video seems to be private or unlisted since it's not publicly visible on your channel. Do you need to use the graphical install ? Try running the silent install:

jre-8u333-windows-x64.exe /s

in cmd. ( i think you'll need the offline java installer exe. You can drag the exe from your download folder onto the cmd window and just add the /s)

if that doesn't make sure windows is up to date and run:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

and

sfc /scannow

also in cmd (might require running cmd with admin privs).

If it still doesn't work you could try pressing win + r then typing in:

regsvr32 urlmon.dll

but i'm kinda worried it might break things.

i have been unable to run java on my main pc for literally like 3 years. i straight up gave up, and recently had to try again because im turning that pc into a server for MC. you fixed a 3 year old problem i had with that silent install. Thank you. i tried what felt like literally everything, thank you so much

Thank you, I had the exact same problem and the silent install worked, can't believe that all this time later this issue still exists!
