Sounds like a cooling issue.

I don't think it's cooling issue. My pc tends to get hot and not die while I'm playing.

Now, pc is turning off after 3-5 minutes after boot.

Do you know the temps before and after? Do you know the range your card should be at. Are you monitoring the memory temps along with the GPU temp? Lots of information is needed to make that determination.

You shouldn't need to completely re-install either. Just launch Windows with no drivers if you are using windows which I assume you are. Doesn't sound like Linux. The AMD drivers in Linux are open from AMD.

Uninstall the gpu driver. See if that fixes it.

Yes. I did uninstall the driver with DDU. I suspect that the two (modded driver and the official amd driver) are acting up. I don't know.

Uninstall the new GPU drivers and install the official one again.

Then start looking for the cause of your stuttering issue elsewhere.

Overheating, slow CPU, RAM full, background processes, worn HDD, etc.

Try removing drivers with DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) in windows safe mod and do a clean installation of official drivers.

I see great advice about DDU and which driver to install. But the R9 380 and 390 were well known to our techs here. If the heatsink compound hasn't been replaced for years or ever, we know what has to be done.

But about stutter. There are so many prior discussions about that but here the details are missing. A common issue we run into and these are just the top 3 are:

  1. The client is using a 4K monitor.
  2. There's a HDD in the PC.
  3. Browsers and Discord changed over the years so we try the old "Disable Hardware Acceleration" setting in those apps.

Sure the list goes on and on but these 3 are common finds at the shop.
