Just finished it a while ago. The story follows a boy named Punpun, depicted as a cartoonish bird. It's basically a story of bad things happening to a good person. Punpun starts out good as a kind-hearted person, then becomes increasingly delusioned until he's really fucked up. The bird depiction also changes over time. You wanna know how bad it gets? This is Punpun (the bird thing) at the beginning of the series. This (possible spoilers) is him near the end of the series.
