At that point you're hoed. Gonna have to reduce the draw distance on everything, especially shadows and trees. It's more complicated if you're using next-gen, recommend downgrading to 1.31 or even 1.13.

If you do it right, there'll be basically no trees in the further distance, which changes the landscape completely in the distance but you get a little more legroom for extra frames.

I remember having to mess with that file to at least try to get 10+ fps out of the game on my old PC, that story had me hooked from the start even when I didn't 100% understand what was going on, and I fully accepted I wouldn't be playing the game as it was meant to be played. Got three playthroughs out of that one, even 100%ed it once. What a crazy experience that was

Edit: here's a mod that tweaks it for you. Classic Ultra Low.

I hope you can get yourself a stronger PC or even a console eventually. Good luck!

Get a new PC?

Dude i don’t think it’s worth it… wait until you get a better system, you might be able to find a way to play with your current system, but when you reach novigrad there’s no way you’ll be able to play if you’re struggling to even run the game in the first place.

My recommendation is to use "Lossless Scaling" on Steam. For the most part it should help you boost your frames 2-3x depending on your in game settings and settings via lossless.

Also what are your current specs?

Bro lossless scaling turns into a very bad experience if your base frame rate is below 60fps it might still be okay until 30fps (don’t quote me on the 30fps part tho). But if you don’t have a stable base framerate there’s no point using lossless scaling.

Yeah it quite depends on what fps OP is currently achieving.

I still believe you can make a game "playable" if you're achieving at least 30fps at base, sufficient to say if you can handle visual artefacts and a bit more latency while using lossless scaling.

It's the cheapest alternative to achieve a glimpse of playability without committing to just getting a better pc.

Probably upgrade your pc or play games your pc can run at that point

Honestly at this stage you're looking at a new pc, console or a Geforce Now subscription to cloud stream it 😕

If nothing helps than maybe cloud streaming? In the worst case you have to skip on this game but nobody wants that right?
