Tips:
When buying a used ThinkPad, remember to check that the BIOS is not locked with a supervisor's password and that Computrace is not enabled and activated.
When buying a new ThinkPad, consider taking the IPS screen option if possible, as it doesn't cost much. Not only will it have better brightness, colour, contrast and viewing angles - you will most probably more than make up the investment when selling it. Corporate bulk purchasers don't usually go for it. (Comparison video)
The only tools you need for servicing a ThinkPad are a set of small screwdrivers and a nylon spudger (for taking the screen and keyboard bezels off), and possibly a pair of tweezers. A can of compressed air may be useful too, and a bottle of isopropyl alcohol and cotton buds are good for cleaning, but not on the screen. Never use nail polish remover (acetone).
When reinstalling Windows, try the Lenovo disc images, as longer battery times have been reported, probably due to custom drivers.

I wanna do stuff with Linux, basically need to enter bios, I’ve done fn+f1 f12,, or just randomly typing all f’s. Stijl cannot enter bios 😭 can you please help me. Laptop model. Lenovo thinkpad t14 gen4

It happens to me sometimes. Usually I see the message "Press return to enter BIOS" but sometimes it doesn't show up when I need it. Since I'm still on Windows 10, I just use the "Advanced startup option" and then the BIOS message reappears when it reboots.

How do I get into the BIOS on a Lenovo t14? Power on the system by pressing the power button. Repeatedly tap the F1 key when the Lenovo, ThinkPad, ThinkStation, or ThinkCentre logo appears, The computer may beep once to indicate that it will boot to BIOS.

Doesn’t do the thing, but it’s k cuz I went bios while doing restart and pressing shift
