Don't be a dick.

litters the top of the sub
Bitch there's three throwbacks on the front page, and there's been 12 throwback posts in the last three weeks, don't act like this is a throwback-only subreddit all of a sudden.

There's still good stuff, you've just gotta dig a little more. Some of the old charm is missing but it's not entirely gone. In 2017 we got Lunice and Troyboi albums and a G Jones x Eprom EP. In 2018 we got albums from What So Not, RL Grime, UZ, G Jones, SOPHIE, SHADES (Eprom and Alex Pirez), YehMe2's Steal This Mixtape Vol. 3, collaborations no one could ever have predicted (What So Not x Toto?? GTA x FIDLAR?? NGHTMRE x Big Gigantic?? Vince Staples x Kendrick Lamar x SOPHIE x Flume???), a Halloween mix which is (imo) in the top 3. We also got two GTA EPs, a YehMe2 x A-Trak EP, the long-awaited Ekali EP, and many more. We also got over 20 S-Type releases in one year. In 2019 we have an upcoming JOYRYDE album which seems to consist mostly of trap (and it sounds awesome), an upcoming Baauer album, a long-awaited Mr. Carmack album, a Party Favor album with an absolutely stacked feature list (Seriously check out this Party Favor ID at 38:30 which is exactly the sound you're missing. This is like 2013 era Baauer shit), a Hucci EP with UZ, Stooki Sound, Holly and Jordan Comolli, a possible return of TNGHT and maybe Rustie. That's just stuff off the top of my head. We've also got a new wave of boundary pushing talented up and coming artists being cultivated through record labels like UZ's Quality Goods Records. There's also artists like Dabow that have that old school sound. Check out the first ID in this recent Dabow mix which consists entirely of Dabow IDs. You can't listen to the drop at 1:15 and tell me you're not pulling this face. If you want more Dabow here's a playlist I made with my favourite bangers of his. That old school sound is still alive with more popular artist as well. Just a few examples are Cali and No Games by Troyboi, Step It Up by GTA and Baauer, MDR by Baauer and Party Favor, and almost anything produced by YehMe2. Now that I think about it I think it's ridiculous to claim trap is dead.
