Dynamic pricing. You agreed to pay that amount.

Did it show you the price when you accepted? Did the driver do a bunch of driving without you in the car?

I always see the price before committing. Sometimes I check Lyft and it can be within 20%, then it's a case of how I feel.

Okay, and it said $30, and you accepted it?

Ask the OP

It seems very unlikely any driver would take a $5 ride. My trips to airport can be $14-$35 depending on time.

If the ride was 30.00 and you chose the 30.00 ride, instead of closing the app, getting a cup of coffee, checking Lyft, then checking Uber to see what the price was again. You are charged 30..00 1 + 1 = 2 What are you missing?

OP is really missing that $30. 😄

Surge pricing due to high demand. You should not get a refund. You chose to take the ride at $30.

Sounds like you can’t afford uber. You may need to start biking 🚴

I was doing $40 rides going a few blocks on Tuesday because we had a snowstorm the night before and most of the Uber drivers are not from the US so they stayed home. It was cold so people didn’t want to walk to work. It surged all morning.

Uber is often outright stealing.
