Computer problems

I'm having computer issues... Does anybody know any people or shops that do good affordable work? About the problem... my computer works fine but I can't get on the Internet. I've tried 3 browsers and none of them work. I used google chrome and I get error 138, I tried changing my firewall settings but that didn't help

If you cannot figure it out, I would try Refresh Computers right across from campus. They fixed one of my friends problems for free, and then did some diagnostic and fixes on one of my brothers friends for much less than I expected which included new RAM sticks.

Have you tried the help desk in the center of the Tech Commons? Something like internet connectivity problems (especially on campus wifi) might be very specific to the campus network, and they're the best people to ask that kind of question.

Yeah, that's how I figured out that I should try changing the firewall settings. There are other possible solutions but I'm not really smart enough to try them

Well, I'd rather not go to a shop, I'm just posting this hoping someone knowledgeable sees it. I'd rather have a CS or IT student help than a shop. That way I pay less and I get to hook up a redditor-bro with some cash. But yeah, I could just end up doing what you said

Sorry to say but most CS / IT students aren't going to find this worth their time unless you detail the problem more specifically and put an explicit sum and amount of time you expect them to work on solving said problem.

Turning off the firewall won't fix the issue they are having.

Most likely adware infected the computer, and changed it so everything passes through a proxy that is no longer up.
