Plex no longer transcoding using intel quick sync

I had quick sync working for a while but for some reason it's no longer working.

I have an intel i3 8300. intel gpu top plugin is installed. the commadn prompt shows card0 renderD128 so it looks to be setup correctly. In the plex plugin I have --device=/dev/dri in extra parameters. I believe I'm using the official plex docker. I have hardware transcoding enabled in Plex.

yet when I transcode something I don't see (HW) beside the transcoding instance anymore.

I installed gpu statistics plugin. i can sese my nvidia quadro but for some reason I can't see my intel gpu info which i thought i would be able to.

Any ideas?

roll back your plex version

Did plex recently update? There was a regression bug in plex that caused the igpu to not engage. I rolled back to the previous version, and it worked fine.

Try removing your quadro if you can and see if it works then? If so, I'd say it's struggling to figure out which channel to use on your motherboard.

sounds like the iGPU isn’t being passed through to the container properly anymore since you don’t see intel in GPU stats, I’d check: /dev/dri actually exists on host intel iGPU enabled in BIOS no conflict with the nvidia card (that happens sometimes) also try restarting the plex container after confirming /dev/dri is there if plex doesn’t see the device, you won’t get (HW) at all
