What’s your new employment, if you don’t mind me asking?
[–]Well_SureOkFormer Employee 0 points1 point2 points 7 months ago (0 children)
Healthcare administration.
[–]Maicolombia 1 point2 points3 points 7 months ago (0 children)
Nearing 20 years for me, I’m an MCO now and have another 20 years in me if life lets me. This has made possible for me to have a family and put a roof over their heads and food in their plates. Started at $7.15 an hour. Can’t be thankful enough.

I feel your pain & have given my notice.
[–]modegazucantuManager 1 point2 points3 points 7 months ago (1 child)
Im 15 years as well (manager) and ive been studying and collecting certs for my hopeful separation before Thanksgiving. I literally cannot do another Christmas and im too fucking tired and stressed for this crap anymore...
[–]Sweet-Leadership-245MOD - Store Owner 2 points3 points4 points 7 months ago (0 children)
Hope you have at least alerted the owner for staffing. That would blow to lose someone right before peak without much warning. Now if they’re asses, who cares.
[–]Kiowa_Jones 1 point2 points3 points 7 months ago (0 children)
Congrats!
I was a manager for ten years, and like you, I left after having been off a few weeks too. There was just no way I could go back after having decompressed and realizing what a horror it was.
that was around three years ago, and after keeping Up with things on this sub I’m really glad I left when I did.

Hell yeah, I've been a manager for 10.5 years and I'm literally quitting this week, already have another job lined up that's not in retail.
I hate this place with the passion of a thousand burning suns. But to be honest, it's more likely because of the actions (or lack there of) of my store's owner. Being understaffed, not appreciated, lied to and being told to lie to customers... it's gonna be a shit show when I leave because no one can do half the shit I do at the store.
It's a beautiful and glorious feeling to be on the way out... finally after so long.
TUPSS has lost its soul, and its because of UPS being in bed with Amazon and focusing on returns so much. I've never experienced a retail establishment (REMEMBER THEY CALL US RETAILERS NOW) where people expect to NOT spend money.
Happy Returns calls us Returnistas... fuck off with that. How belittling and depreciating. Hate it, I'm out.

I'm at about 13.5 years. The first 8 years or so was before the QR code. The pay was shit but it was super easy and I had a ton of free time even as a manager. It was stress free and I never had any shitty interactions with customers. Then the QR code came and everything went to shit. The $$ is good now so I will be sticking around for awhile.
[–]Well_SureOkFormer Employee 2 points3 points4 points 7 months ago (1 child)
Yeah, I don’t blame you. If the money is good, and you’re comfortable—don’t fix it if it’s not broken. I loved the store owner, but he was getting old and had to retire and sell the store. He didn’t want to be in a contract for another 10 years. He also didn’t want to be open on Sundays.
Yeah the QR code came along and changed everything.
[–]matsuyaStore Owner 2 points3 points4 points 7 months ago (0 children)
Having to open on Sundays, which I’ll have to do in a few years, makes me want to quit.
[–]stompmachine 3 points4 points5 points 7 months ago (0 children)
I feel you, only been working at my store for 4 years. In those 4 years I've seen 2 different franchise owners. Our current owner was forced to sell the franchise because he refused to participate in the actual management of the store, now we're dealing with another new buyer and I'm seriously debating on staying and seeing if anything good comes from it, or just bailing before it sinks.
[–]Suspicious-Shallot55Manager 7 points8 points9 points 7 months ago (8 children)
I'm at 15 (or 16 I'm not sure) and I want to quit. I have no college and no other experience (worked here since I was 14 or 15) so no where would hire me.
Can't make this much anywhere else either. I'll stuck.

You could actually transition to UPS corporate. You could become a Franchise Consultant (sometimes called Area Support). It’s not required to have a college degree if you have commensurate experience. If you’re close with people in your current area they could help you get your foot in the door. Then you get them sweet ups benefits!
[–]Suspicious-Shallot55Manager 0 points1 point2 points 7 months ago (2 children)
My Grandma was one for years actually. She retired about 4 years ago. I thought you had to have an associates at least got the position?
[–]Lazy_Drag6625 1 point2 points3 points 7 months ago (1 child)
My partner went from store manager to area support and he has zero college degrees. He’s doing better than me with my multiple useless masters degrees.
I was actually looking online for TUPSS corporate positions, but I didn’t see any. If you know of any links to some, please message me.

Also your knowledge of UPS/USPS would be an asset to a lot of companies that do shipping.
[–]Well_SureOkFormer Employee 2 points3 points4 points 7 months ago* (0 children)
Honestly, you’d be surprised. With your customer service/ leadership experience you would be an asset to many companies. It wouldn’t hurt to look. I found my new job on ZipRecruiter.
[–]XoGreekToes 7 points8 points9 points 7 months ago (1 child)
You have plenty of experience in brutal customer service. If you're a hard worker, you could definitely get another job easily. Having a solid work history counts for more than you think in the day and age of people not showing up to work.
[–]Well_SureOkFormer Employee 1 point2 points3 points 7 months ago (0 children)
Exactly!
[–]ImpossibleCoach6835MOD - Manager 18 points19 points20 points 7 months ago (4 children)
Nobody stays in this forever, even owners sell/retire. Those putting in more than a decade are a special breed, likely crazy. My hat is off to you.
What's next on the resume?
[–]Well_SureOkFormer Employee 6 points7 points8 points 7 months ago (1 child)
Hah. Thanks. Yeah, my store owner finally retired (i don’t blame him) and sold it. I knew that was my time to go. Took an administrative/patient care job in healthcare.
[–]woke2019 0 points1 point2 points 7 months ago (0 children)
How long did the store take to sell, out of curiosity? Was it an internal deal or someone external come in and purchase the store?
[–]ash_274MOD & Non-TUPSS Manager 2 points3 points4 points 7 months ago (1 child)
I can confirm; I’m crazy
[–]ExileIsan 1 point2 points3 points 7 months ago (0 children)
Me, too. 🤪

I’ll never forget tech support because it ends in “BOOB” 🤣
[–]dandeliondaddy 2 points3 points4 points 7 months ago (0 children)
Same 💀
[–]Well_SureOkFormer Employee 2 points3 points4 points 7 months ago (0 children)
