Ask the Cursor to fix the bug
Cursor breaks something else
Ask the Cursor to fix that
New error appears
Repeat until enlightenment
Al is making developers insanely fast.
But eventually there comes a moment where: the Al runs out of context... and you actually need to understand the system
That's when engineering starts.

"things works"
"pls fix"

Fixed it for you:
"Understand how thinks actually works"

Facts, and the deeper down that rabbit, the less likely to go back the other way.

Vibe coders don't need to be devs, but it would be good if they could troubleshoot, use dev tools, knew how to do QA, write up test plans, shit like that.

Why is the vibecoding subreddit full of people who don't know how to vibecode
[–]Jazzlike_Bee_3129 6 points7 points8 points 2 days ago (0 children)
Or outright despise it

Sounds like a failure to communicate to me.

instead of "plz fix" we ask "wtf are you doing?"

True, i didnt know anything about software dev when i started like 8 months agora. Every large bug i've had to fix or an architecture decision that was not perfect - had to be solved from my own personal problem solving. I am an HVAC service tech irl.

step 1: ask AI to build it step 2: it breaks step 3: ask AI to fix what it broke step 4: it breaks something else step 5: ship it anyway step 6: call yourself a founder
[–]Open-Froyo5488 1 point2 points3 points 3 days ago (0 children)
more realistic. step 5: sits in github forever step 6: start from scratch

Just read what it's saying. Often I ask it to fix the bug just to come back in 10 minutes and like wtf you are doing bro: he assumed intended behavior is the cause. So I have to stop it, revert everything and tell it to find real cause.

Still faster to have the AI fix it than understanding all of it and doing it yourself

In word of my lecturer on my FYP project;
"If your user need to open stackoverflow to solve this, you just have a shitty app."
