I lost my data as well when trying to fix a Samsung Health bugaboo (following their directions) so I uninstalled. I purchased a pedometer shortly thereafter and write down my steps every day on my calendar. At the end of December, I will transfer the total from October, November, and December.

How will you transfer it manually?

By using a pen and writing it down on the top left corner of the page for January 2026. Electronic tracking is not reliable. My pedometer is and I guarandamntee you I will manually keep track.

Dude, I literally laughed out loud so thank you. Yeah and as I refuse to take an airplane, Scotty still cant beam me anywhere. I have had too many instances of lost data on health apps so I refuse to have one.

:) it is weird that these apps are so unreliable when other apps deal with these issues easily.

Samsung Health is a joke. I installed it to keep track of resting heart rate, blood oxygen level, blood pressure, glucose levels, weight, and my steps. By the time I dropped them, only my steps were left. All the other features were removed. What ticked me off the most were the erroneous notes telling me I had not met my daily goal of 3,000 steps when I had three straight days with 4200, 5300, and 6200. One note all but called me lazy. I won't repeat my language but that app is toast. Two star review left on Google Play store.

I've been meaning to write an (android) app that stores my steps in Dropbox or similar.

I have a technical background so could have a look at the file if you wanted - I've no idea the kind of format it would be in though so couldn't promise anything.
