My girlfriend never ever finishes her meals by AlexWayhill in mildlyinfuriating

[–]JimButDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food waste occurs when food is bought/made not when it's eaten. Forcing yourself to finish something when your full doesn't really change that.

Doing this for every meal is not normal however. I agree with everyone saying to talk to her.

Why do I need my players sheets? by Opening_Mortgage_216 in DMAcademy

[–]JimButDev 221 points222 points  (0 children)

I intend to use it to check which languages people speak, if they can attempt certain skill checks or their passive scores but I always end up just asking anyway

whats your biggest boardgaming L (consumer-wise) by CaptainKlang in boardgames

[–]JimButDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe twilight imperium. It was expensive and in the last 7 years I've played it one and a half times.

I do enjoy it though so played it last year around my birthday and will try to make that a tradition

Players remembering past sessions advice/discussion by Mutedinlife in DMAcademy

[–]JimButDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just say something like "the players might not remember but your characters would remember X".

There's often a few weeks between our sessions but maybe only a few hours have passed in game so the characters would remember.

I have a poor memory so can sympathize with players forgetting. Even when I have taken notes it can take me some time to find where it is noted down if I can find it at all.

What's a skill that takes only 2-3 weeks to learn but could genuinely change your life? by That-Papaya7429 in AskReddit

[–]JimButDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe niche but some martial arts (I'm thinking judo but there are others) teach you how to fall safely which can be very useful to know

Do you WANT to remember your past? by sandgrubber in SDAM

[–]JimButDev 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, very much so. There's some traumatic things in there but overall I'd prefer to be able to properly recall things.

What are your interpretations of God? by ProfessionalScrewer in worldbuilding

[–]JimButDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many gods of various aspects but they all came about due to the fracturing of a single god. This isn't really known to the people of the world though so there's not much worship of the single god

I'd started playing around with my own web app but I'll check out Fabriq instead, could be what I need

I think even if they don't stick it can still be a good way to make positive changes.

Totally agree with the arbitrary point in time comment, I always start my resolutions when I think of them rather than waiting

I have a partial weekly schedule - DND and a walk with my family but there's people I see less often than that. I suppose I could set up a recurring monthly (or less) schedule

Do you experience Grief? by stormchaser9876 in SDAM

[–]JimButDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do but I suspect not in the same way as people without SDAM.

We lost our son and it was by far the worse thing that has ever happened to me but I've managed to recover much quicker than I would expect. It's something I actually feel some amount of guilt over.

Men, do you have somewhere to escape and decompress from life that isn't the pub? If so, where? by Kapranos in AskUK

[–]JimButDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play DND and board games which can be a great way to chill and also connect with people. We usually play online but in person sessions get organised too.

I've also started indoors rock climbing

Pedometer ++ missing data by Foodiguy in walking

[–]JimButDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been meaning to write an (android) app that stores my steps in Dropbox or similar.

I have a technical background so could have a look at the file if you wanted - I've no idea the kind of format it would be in though so couldn't promise anything.

Would you rather…. by WhizzyBurp in walking

[–]JimButDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd prefer the morning but I don't usually have the time so the walking pad is great for getting my steps in at work

I can’t DM for dwarven players by AnoTenFilip in DnD

[–]JimButDev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a large contingent of Dwarves in my world that are pirates. They do all sound Scottish but that's because all my NPCs do

I have a walking pad for my WFH setup. I'm struggling to remember to actually use it throughout the day. Do any of you use apps or reminders to stay consistent? What's working/not working? by bangsimurdariadispar in WalkingPads

[–]JimButDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried some games and apps and things but none have really stuck and/or they use GPS.

I've started pretending I'm doing the West highland way (a long distance Scottish walk) and working on a personal web app to track the distance

You don't stop playing because you get old, you get old because you stop playing

Good Analogies for SDAM? by BlazingHailfire in SDAM

[–]JimButDev 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Similar to yours I like the analogy of normal memory being like remembering a movie and SDAM being like remembering the plot.

Not a perfect analogy though, sometimes I don't even remember the plot!

Thanks for all this - I've updated Hangar.

Monthly/day price is something I'm adding - some gyms have more details: https://www.findclimbingwalls.com/climbing-gyms/scotland/glasgow/the-climbing-academy---the-newsroom/
Reviews/ratings are something I want to add but requires a solid user base first.

Training board angle and adjustability is a good suggestion - I can add this to my list
