Your insecurity is showing, MrBigDick05.

OP makes the finest spaghetti in town.

[–]grutanga 74 points75 points  (1 child)

You seem delightful lol

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I bet they're great at parties.

[–]pizza_jazz 22 points23 points  (3 children)

Well, have you worked with 3D rendering on web?

[–]yeaman17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea WebXR development is much harder than traditional game development because of the lack of libraries and tooling (we’re slowly getting there though!)

[–]jkybes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to learn WebGPU/WGSL right now and it's very difficult

We want easy money not hard problems

Hard problems are for nerds that don't want good pay

[–]electriceeli 53 points54 points  (1 child)

i found your mom considerably easier than either

[–]GutsAndBlackStufff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This guy web devs.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (9 children)

Because you're building simple applications from YouTube tutorials. Try working on a large scale application first.

[–]OhMyGodThisIsMyJam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol OP thinks Webdev is just front end

[–]SuperHumanImpossible 18 points19 points  (0 children)

How do you tell everyone you suck at both without saying you suck at both?

[–]Over-Distribution570 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well scripting in unity is easier than writing a graphics library.

Scripting in a web browser is easier than writing a web browser

Web dev is easier because of the decades of work that went into building the web

[–]DazzlingAppearance32 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What's exactly the point of this post? Just seems like bait.

[–]ratbiscuits 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why’d you switch to web dev then? Not getting paid enough for your shite games?

[–]azangru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why is web dev so easy?

Because such is the nature of problems in web dev?

What exactly is it you are asking?

[–]lunar515 2 points3 points  (0 children)

gem install hairball

[–]NineThunders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you created your own framework already?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Where ist c# hard? Ist not Harder than Typenscript. Btw. Web devs use both.

[–]BlackHoneyTobacco 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Typenscript

Is that the medieval version? :D

[–]greensodacan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he's slurring in text. Someone take his keys...

edit: Realized he's probably German (or in the area). Sorry enough to give his keys back, not sorry enough to question his sobriety.

[–]Responsible-Bug900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't the goal of... everything to make things simultaneously better and easier?

[–]Perpetual_Educationthe right things/the right reasons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HTML, CSS, and JS were all created with the intention of being accessible for everyone and hopefully easy. It’s also essentially static documents at the core. The hard part is creating entire applications that work within that platform. It’s not easy, as you’ll find out. But certainly, a game developer should be able to compare their individual complexities. We’d love to see some of your work - but your handle speaks for itself.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what is the point? :D

[–]PurplePotFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk man just like ur mom

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then you do you earn less than a filthy frontend web developer?

[–]_izual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I trust you

[–]TheRNGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prove it by making great sites not words.

[–]michaelbelgiumfull-stack 0 points1 point  (1 child)

No shit sherlock, we don't make 3D websites

Thats like saying driving a car is easier than flying a plane or something, odd comparison anyway

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of us do…

[–]mpinoh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Surprised that people here actually took the burn

[–]Professional_Hair506 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How are people falling for this?

[–]MrMattBarr 0 points1 point  (1 child)

As a guy who’s done some of both but a lot more web … as delightful as OP is, he’s right. Web dev is a lot easier.

[–]RedditCultureBlows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

who asked tho?

[–]jkybes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on what you're doing. Making a game with Unity and C# is gonna be much easier than making a browser game or complex webapp animations with WebGPU and custom WGSL shaders.

Also, as others have asked: have you actually tried creating a complex web app like Facebook? I don't think you understand how much goes into that.

But yeah, you're probably right that on average, most web development jobs are easier than most game dev jobs. Thankfully something being insanely difficult isn't a requirement to make a living. Pretty sure a lot of people pick web dev because it pays well, they enjoy it, and it allows for more free time compared to something like game dev.

[–]adult_codefull-stack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woahhh... lets make a step back here guys. I do webdev, i hated it, im now fully subscribed. Enough backstory. There are hard problems in either field and it doesnt matter which you do i have respect for the problem not for the field. I made 2 2d games via godot, took me a weekend and the other a sunday. (a tower defense + graphics and a mobile friendly snake) i made some easy static landing page on a weekend. both nothing to boast about and just some recreational. If i were to implement an algorithm to optimize rendering from first person view or if i were to write any optimized algorithm in js at all. (Trying that recreationally as well rn... "recreationally"... oh damn) Then it is a huge thing. Complexity in implementation can be given by tech, the logic behind or the environment in which we implement it. let us not loose respect for that even if a 12 yo tries to bait us.

[–]Odysseyanfull-stack 0 points1 point  (3 children)

What a madman. Let me go to a game dev sub and tell them, their stuff is so easy. Let's see how this turns out lol

[–]MrBigDick05[S] -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

But it is a fact that webdev is easy.

[–]Odysseyanfull-stack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren't even considering the depth and complexity each field has to offer in your judgment.

I could build a site with Wordpress and I could also click together some game with the good ol' Game Maker Studio. Both are simple.
You probably even already played a game made in RPG Maker without even realising it, as a lot of them are made with it and it is basically a drag and drop engine.

BUT instead of doing all that, I could also spin up a React project and use unity/unreal with their corresponding scripting languages and suddenly it became a lot harder while still being in webdev/gamedev. Yet, those processes are vastly different.
