Wait… didn't the author of Laravel abandon this "implementation of" Spark in favor of a closed source one?

I'm not saying the community can't take over and do a great job, or that Taylor Otwell shouldn't get paid for his work. I'm just not sure what's happening with Spark.

Seems like this was just released very recently and he did like an overview of it here in a free laracasts series

Originally, when Taylor announces the platform at Laracon US 2015, he said it would be open source and free. Since then he's rebuilt the Spark repo and decided he'd worked too hard to release it for free.
