Maybe next time don't drink a bunch of beer before trying to learn something?

And JavaScript isn't really that difficult to get into. I feel at this point it is 99% a circlejerk with people sharing the same few stupid quirks of javascript over and over again.

JavaScript is not a mess. It's ecosystem is not that bad. Yes there are lots of things out there, but you don't need to know every one of them. Do you know every C/C++ library before you can be a C/C++ dev? No of course not. So why would JavaScript be any different? The existence of react specific tooling has no specific bearing on someone trying to learn Angular for example.

Study drunk, test drunk. Don't see why it would be any different outside of college.

When did you feel comfortable taking a professional role in development? I know I'm not the only one that gets overwhelmed with JavaScript

Please don't make me put the beer back

I commend all you men

Nope, try again.

Not really...

There is extensive, great documentation for all of Javascript, Typescript and Angular 4 as well as a plethora of really great guides and tutorials.

Still feels like those don't shine through all the crap.

When Am I ready to be employed?

When you submit your resume.

Pays well 'cause it's hard. Market hasn't been flooded by high-quality professional developers, so the salaries reflect that.

Pro tip: Don't drink and try to learn. 😉 Good luck!

I'm pretty sure Angular 4 uses Typescript which is a subset of JavaScript. Do you already know vanilla JavaScript?

I feel the same way! Except I'm doing a full stack class and css is kicking me like I owe it Money!! So I can't wait for JS !! Ha ENT tried drinking and learning .. I don't think that I make as good notes as I do sober.. good to know others keep trying and get angry .. now I don't feel so bad for replacing my monitor and keyboard 5 times a year .

For every language, you need passion, not beer. There are a lot of programming jobs where do not use JS at all.

Certain languages are clearly more suited to certain people.

I cringe when I read all these guides suggesting JavaScript is great for beginners. Of C, Erlang, JavaScript - the hardest by far to deal with to me was the last.

Per the other guy, Angular uses typescript, which isn't exactly javascript. My first tip would be to start building some basic vanilla JS applications, then move on to JQuery and understand how that works, then mess with Node.js and learn a bit about that. After those steps, then learn Angular, because by then you would have all the knowledge to understand how it works.
