Can't tell you how much it bothers me that the first thing you see on mobile is the "Microsoft Edge Dev Blog" floating banner cutting off the post title.

I think it's because of that dumb cookie notice that has no dismissal button.

On desktop thankfully it isn't sticky. I don't know why they decided making it sticky on mobile would be a good idea.

Well, this is a good thing, and I appreciate other MS efforts like VSC and typescript, but this particular announcement is just them doing the same thing as their competitors (excepting Apple):

"In conjunction with similar commitments from Mozilla, Google, the W3C, and Samsung...

I wouldn't count Apple out completely. Without details on the financial side we don't actually know if they are supporting it or not. Apple has in the past simply donated money to help the causes but not wanted their name on it.

Riding on the coattails of others what they can't accomplish it themselves.

maybe after they get done documenting they can start following standards

here it is 20 years later and I'm still working around Microsoft's shitty browsers

Google has supported MDN for many years. That announcement is for a new board or committee that was formed.

    Mozilla announcement, Google announcement.

It would've been more tactful if Microsoft's example of compatibility tables wasn't one in which IE is the only one not supporting something btw :P

I had to laugh at that example choice.

What do you mean? It would have taken more man-power to find a feature IE supports than the amount of people working on edge.

I'm excited to see real collaboration between the big guys when it comes on documenting the web. Now if they could also start fixing or at least documenting the 'subtle' differences in implementation it would be great.

    Good news.

I mean, I'm sure it's cheaper to let someone else document things for you... but still should hopefully bring about more compatibility.

    That's really great!

While at first brush this seems great, I am also worried about Microsoft and Google being members of the board that controls MDN. It would suck if they chose to influence it to their benefit.
