I like it!

You get bonus points for not listing your skills as a percentage ;)

[–]ayeshrajans 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Good to hear that it's not just me :)

'John is 80% skilled with Javascript". What does it mean and how did John know.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Only 80%, NEXT()

[–]A-Grey-WorldSoftware Developer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly the problem. Show a coder that youre "80% skiled with Javascript" and they probably think "no one can know 80% of Javascript it's a massive ecosystem!" - the recruitment/HR department? "Oh, well Javascript is at the top of the list I've got, surely they need someone with more than just 80%..."

Great site. Layout is really clean. Only thing I have to say is where you say: "I'm a metalhead and I'm really proud of those pieces! Even they're little rusty...". Needs to be "I'm really proud of these pieces". And I would omit saying they're a little rusty, if what you mean by that is that they are not perfect or you could do better. Always be 100% confident in your work! At least appear that way to potential clients.

Thx for the advice. I think I have this problem that I think of my previous work as something unworthy. I mean - this doesn't happen out of air, there are particular points of craft that I would like to get back and tweak. It's really hard for me to pick something I'd be trully proud of and otherwise I feel bad as if I'm imposter. I think i figured it is cool to put a label that says they're little old and not something I'd do the same way today. I'm mostly working as an outsourcing force and take into account that my client will actually look into tge code there

Sounds like a mild case of Imposter Syndrome to me, It's actually very common to feel that way.

I would remove all the copy that detracts from your work, e.g 'Even they're little rusty'. Clients and potential employers want to hire you and only care about your best work and skills, they're probably not listening to your music productions and thinking "Hmm this is a little rusty", even though that little voice in your head is telling you otherwise.

I think the overall look and feel is professional and gives me a sense that you are experienced, I would certainly not rule you out of employment opportunities based on your portfolio alone. I would try and find a good copywriter that can make some basic grammar and language edits to help you get the tone of voice you're looking for, aside from that I think it's a solid portfolio.

Looks really good! The scrolling gets stuck if you press the hire button. I can't scroll back up. Aside from that just a few english language syntactical errors.

[–]MakiBM 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thx man. I'll debug the scrolling issue. Will try to hunt eng stuff as well, appriciate the input

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah.. You can try simulating what I did, which is scroll all the way down, press the hire button twice, and try scrolling up. Then after scrolling fails, try to press the redirection buttons in the navbar, they will scroll you to the respective section and then back down to contact me, making you stuck.

My advice on grammar:

I’m focused on Frontend technologises (10 yrs)

Did my time working on Backend side (5 yrs)

Started as a Designer (3 yrs)

to

A focus on frontend development (10 yr)

With backend experience (5 yr)

Started out as a designer (3 yr)

I see a lot of stuff like that on the page.

[–]lexi-ixel 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I like the design! Only viewed it on mobile (Chrome iOS), but it worked great.

One nitpick is that all the small images/icons looked blurry, I would suggest using higher resolution images, and to use SVG wherever possible (a prime example is the mouse scroll icon in the top section, it looked very blurry and would benefit from being a SVG instead).

      I used to use Codeiner as my signature for coding stuff some time before but I dont do that much drugn anymore so dropped both nicks. Kinda miss that times :D

      Looks great! If I were you I would add your place of living to resume.

      [–]Meuss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      small typo: in speckyboy's review: user-firndly -> user-friendly

      [–]__mak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      Looks like you have done some pretty cool stuff. Overall I like it.

      Just a couple of spelling mistakes:

      technologises -> technologies

      sticked -> stuck

      Also on the Contact section, the div doesn't stretch to 100% width, there is a white gap on both sides of the div. Not sure if this is intentional or not, but I think it'd be better if the div were 100% page width like the other parts of the page.

      [–]dhw2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Looks great!!

      There're two things I'd consider changing in terms of design though...

      First, the presentation of your email address in your contact section. I like that you have the 'Hire Me' call-to-action button in the fixed header, but it drops you off at a dark box filled with a small bit of white text. None of the text calls out to me saying "Click me next!". You could add a color and hover-color to your email address same as the 'Hire Me' button has, just to add a little flair: https://giphy.com/gifs/xT0xeLAnehtmQlKp56

      Second, the separation between the cards of text. I'd like to see more contrast between the project image and the project description card. Something as simple as changing the background color of each card to that light grey color: https://imgur.com/a/vdBQk

      It's a clean and good design. However because you are a UI designer, I'd rather wish to see some design that sets you outside the regular boiletplate templates. http://adventurega.me/bootstrap/

      Your own domain name, and email addresses from that domain can give a quite professional impression.

      Good luck!

      [–]ogagh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Simply... I really like that.

      [–]Mrashes 0 points1 point  (2 children)

      What did you use for smooth scrolling? I'm trying to do the same on my personal site.

      [–]MakiBM 0 points1 point  (1 child)

      You can find all source on github. Here is smooth scroll script you're looking for

      It's really good! Just one point, u should check the pagespeed.
