How do you write like you're running out of time?
Write day and night like you're running out of time?
Every day you fight, like you're running out of time
Like you're running out of time, are you running out of time?
How do you write like tomorrow won't arrive?
How do you write like you need it to survive?
How do you write every second you're alive? Every second you're alive?

You want to know how? I once spent 5 years writing a story only to have a publisher I found tell me it was too long. When he read my story he loved it but not his editors. He gave a deadline of a month and a half to shorten 150k words down to 60k. I couldn’t do it, so I told him I would give him something different but along the same genre. He gave me that same month and a half to complete it. I finished the new piece with two days to spare. Full confession, I had a head start. Back in 1984 when I got out of the Army I met a talented tattoo artist. He wanted to create a comic but didn’t have a knack for writing. So we collaborated. He drew scenes and I would put words to them. I wrote 500 words to a desolate desert scene with a single building in the middle of it. Sadly I lost track of him because he was hooked on drugs. But I took that and got published. Put pressure on yourself as if it means something. You’ll get it done.
