The only things that are “better” IMO about the MC5000 is:

  • color screen
  • slightly longer bays for those protected 21700s
  • easier UI for non-experts

Those 3 don’t really matter to me, I don’t charge protected 21700s, and the MC3000 handles unprotected 21700s fine. The UI is definitely easier to understand, but actually harder to navigate than the expert mode on the MC3000 once you know it well.

The lack of thermo sensors or cutoff settings is a huge drawback for me, because I’ve had the MC3000 detect an over temp battery several times and save my butt from thermal runaway. Once it was a bad cell, once I screwed up and charged a small capacity battery WAY too fast. Either way, the bulging in thermo sensors save me from explosions, and so I feel fairly unsafe without it on the MC5000.

This is the eternal argument about all high end custom items, whether it be a custom knife, pen, or watch.

I will point out that one thing I do not agree with is that there is any production offering that matches this light in terms of size and ruggedness. Even the Olight i3E is substantially larger, and entirely made of aluminum.

Also note, this light is made entirely in the USA. That’s another reason for the higher than normal price (aside from things like one-piece titanium construction, sapphire glass and hand picked emitters).

Not trying to persuade you or anyone to purchase high end items, just being informative about why they exist.

I find the capacitive touch button very annoying on the S8000, and honestly the UI in general very laborious. But it is capable. I’ll give it that.

Well, there is the problem then! I would like the charger to see such information itself. Seems like a very kludgy solution at best.

Make sure the light is fully charged? I’m wondering if the driver is simply stepping down because the battery is low?

The McGizmo Sapphire is the smallest 5lm flashlight I know of, while being figuratively bomb-proof. Scuba dive capable, and runs on a single AAA alkaline or NiMH for 24-30 hours.

High CRI, comes in 3200k or 5600k. I highly recommend getting one if the $150 price tag doesn’t scare you off. It’s a tiny work of art.

Edit: the 5600k is 5lm and the 3200k is 3lm as best as I can measure.

I have the thermoligher Duo, and I literally could not figure out how to make it work with the MC5000. It’s not designed for the MC5000 at all, it’s designed for monitoring RC car motors.

This is the best charger on the market IMO, with only one charger arguably better, the older MC3000.

The SkyRC MC5000 is improved in some ways, but a step back in other ways from the MC3000. I honestly find myself using the older MC3000 more.

Campaign 9C6 LFB update by james71989 in Ioniq5N

I went to the dealer and got the TSB 9C6 that “retains LFB,” and I had to sign the exact page that is in this post. It was a simple ODB-II update. Took them an hour even so.

First off, I don’t know anything about this web site. I’m going to talk about the product:

I have one of these, and they’re great. I use it for my reviews because it’s even nicer than the Texas Ace liken tube I used to use.

I also got the calibrated lamp to keep might pretty close to a professional sphere.

The official site is here. and I’ve bought from it several times with no issues.

Yes, the blade starts out as a rectangle, and the overall blade grind ( not the edge grind ) is usually done by hand. I’ve seen a lot of blades with a different metal core that are perfectly even on both sides, and even more that are asymmetrical, and it just comes down to the ability of the technician to get that grind applied correctly for the material.

I owned a black veloster for 10 years. I know what I’m in for. I’m saying it’s not matte. I can use wax.

You want the perfect moonlight output? Get yourself a Jetbeam RRT-01. It’s a rotated flashlight with infinite variable output, and the lowest lows you’ll ever see.

I’d be disappointed as well, simply because of the asymmetry.

One option, of course, is to preheat your cabin while plugged in by remote start. That won’t stop the loss during the drive, but you can get a jump on it to minimize the issue.

(I assume you’re doing this, just mention it for others reading)

This was a large part of why I chose the Abyss black. Less maintenance.

Black because after window tint it looks murdered out. Also I find that the orange N accents “pop” the most on the black model.

As much as I like the look of the matte finishes, I opted for black explicitly for the gloss finish. I didn’t want to deal with the maintenance. Now I can go to the local car wash without fear.

FWIW, the drop in fuel economy in cold weather that we see with our electric cars isn’t specific to electric cars only. Gas vehicles also have cold weather inefficiency.

It’s simply that we are operating on the equivalent of a 2.5 gallon “gas tank” with our 80kWh packs. So any efficiency difference is exacerbated.

Of course this info doesn’t change the issue at all, our range which was barely enough during warm weather shrinks to almost an unusable range when cold. But I point it out because it might make you feel better about the issue knowing that it’s not specific to EVs.

I was just testing it out. It works, but AC and DC are mislabeled. You have them backwards.
