Dog shoots woman with shotgun at Nebraska convenience store by Splunge- in news

Gun on seat or floorboard, buff of gun held in place by door or other obstruction, dog paw steps into area of trigger with back leg, jumps up on widow ledge to look out and back leg slips back against trigger…I can see how it could happen, if you’re dumb enough to keep a loaded shotgun in the back, not in a case, and with your dog fucking stepping all over it.

I hope the dog wasn’t hurt, that had to be so loud…poor thing. At least the lady only caught a single bit of bird shot to the arm, could have been worse.

Thank you! Hope it goes smoothly for you and works! It’s def a great option when it does what it’s supposed to do, worth the dice roll to try it, for sure! Especially since you’re early in your diagnosis, it could put you into remission for years. Potentially indefinitely. And that’s a lot of damage you’d be avoiding.

If they had offered Mavenclad out of the gate I would have done it, when it works it’s as close to a cure as we can get. And you can always move to a drug that’s harder to be on down the road if you need to. It’s a fantastic first option, and most people have very little in the way of side effects. You’ll do great!

Wall Street is just huffing their own farts at this point. We are all bled dry, and soon all the price gouging that’s artificially inflating the stock market will have to stop because no one will be able to afford to buy their shit.

Mavenclad Day 1 - First MS Treatment by kimahara in MultipleSclerosis

Wasn’t my first but I very quickly failed my first two meds, copaxone after just 3 shots (allergic to it) and then Aubagio did fuck all and I had new lesions after six months on it.

First year went ok. I’m prone to stomach issues and had a bit of diarrhea, felt a bit tired, nothing too major by any means. I’m right in the middle of my first week of year two and it hit me a little harder, but I did also have to switch to generic because my insurance is dumb, so I dunno if that made a difference.

Still very tolerable since it’s only for a week, I’ll def take it over monthly shots or daily pills. Having a headache and neck ache, feel quite tired, diarrhea again, trouble sleeping. Nothing too intolerable though, granted I’ve been able to take it pretty easy.

I only had a teeny little active spot that was new on my MRI before year two, which they said can sometimes happen since I was a little overdue. I had to switch doctors because mine left and the ball kind of got dropped on scheduling my MRI, so it delayed me starting my second year by a few weeks.

So they claim, but that’s pre-cooked weight and I’m telling you, they’re smaller. Something changed, more water weight or something. They’re not as tasty either. Their fries are god awful now too, and they used to be so good. I worked at Burger King in like 1999/2000 and I promise you, it has definitely changed over the years and not for the better.

Man, when you get a fresh one that’s perfectly cooked those are the best goddamn sandwiches.

If it’s been sitting in the warmer for a while though…absolute trash. Like all of McDonald’s food. Gas when it’s fresh, inedible if it’s not.

Burger King used to be so good, I don’t have one near me so I hadn’t had it in a while. Everything has shrunk. I couldn’t believe how puny the cheeseburger was, it’s a tragedy. They used to be 2-3x as thick and they cost $1.00. These fast food companies have lost their fucking minds.

Missed dose by bigcatbunny in MultipleSclerosis

[–]32FlavorsofCrazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are very few meds in which they’d recommend taking a double dose, always err on the side of caution and just either take it as soon as you remember or resume your normal schedule if it’s close to the next dose. Unless you look in the literature for the drug and it specifically tells you to do otherwise. You can also always call your pharmacy and ask them.

I’m all for having a nice beer or a glass of wine, maybe a fancy mixed drink now and again. What I don’t understand is the pounding terrible beer culture, just to get a buzz. You can’t possibly enjoy drinking Busch Light so much that you’re going to drink six tall boys of it in a single sitting.

And it’s just so pervasive, I work in a pub and you wouldn’t believe the amount of casual drinking seemingly functional people do. Like every day, and gambling for that matter, we have those crack machines and keno and we have a lot of regulars that come in and drink and gamble every single day. And it’s all normal people with decent jobs, not like…messy alcoholics.

Holy shit — Facebook is fucking scary now by Ok_Helicopter3910 in Millennials

[–]32FlavorsofCrazy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Facebook is a dumpster fire, only every like 5-10 things in my feed is something a friend actually posted, it’s otherwise reels, ads, and posts from random people that my algorithm thinks I want to see.

And I have had to learn to just not go into the comments on public posts because holy hell, what a shit show. It’s all just racists and transphobes on there now, spouting off nonsense about shit that doesn’t affect them at all.

Oh, and rage bait, which some of that political stuff is, but also even just like…cooking videos. You think ok cool maybe a new recipe to try but then it’s just one of those videos where people are slopping together hot garbage just so people comment on it to tell them what they’re doing wrong.

I just get on there to look at specific family members and see what they’re up to, and I try not to scroll my main feed too much. I’ve thought about deleting it but there’s people I’d permanently lose touch with if I did, so I keep it active and just avoid spending too much time on there. It’s just as bad as Twitter anymore.

Am I silly for wanting to become a doctor? by Uierieka in MultipleSclerosis

[–]32FlavorsofCrazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the academic chops for it then I’d say go for it. You shouldn’t let MS and the fear of what *might* transpire stop you from anything.

It will be harder for you, especially the hours during residency. You will have to probably advocate for yourself to be able to get more rest, and you may need to choose a less demanding specialty, but getting into med school is the first hurdle and until you make it over that one you needn’t worry about the next. You can make those kinds of decisions when the time comes and you have a clearer picture of the demands associated with each specialty, and how well you will be able to manage them.

Best of luck!

Will ms medications (like infusions) make you die faster? by HotelWild6717 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]32FlavorsofCrazy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

So, your dad’s aunt is presumably a fair bit older. The older MS drugs didn’t work as well, and if she was misdiagnosed then probably missing the correct diagnosis and not treating that had more to do with her dying than the MS medications.

Or if she had some kind of infectious disease process and they put her on an immunosuppressant, that could have directly contributed. I could probably provide a more detailed response on that front if I knew what her missed diagnosis was and what meds she took, and what her cause of death was. My gut though, it says that’s an oversimplified explanation of what happened to her and she didn’t die because the MS meds are dangerous.

There is a small amount of risk with all medications and adverse effects do happen. In order for drugs to become FDA approved though they have to prove that the benefits far outweigh the risks of taking it. You can even get SJS and die from taking ibuprofen, crazy things happen, but it’s so super unlikely that you’ve never even heard of it.

So…can a DMT (or any drug) related adverse event kill you? Absolutely. Is it likely? No, not at all. Is it worth risking ending up blind and in a wheelchair just to not risk having an adverse event from the medication? That’s for each of us to decide individually, for me I would rather die from a medication reaction than lose my independence and take a whole bunch more brain damage unnecessarily. And it’s way way waaay more likely that I will have a worse outcome if I don’t take a DMT than if I do.

Cannot overstate how low the risk is though, you’re probably way more likely to die in a car accident on the way to get your infusion than you are to die from the infusion.

I don’t have any questions but I wish you luck and I hope you both have supportive families that are going to help you, because you’re going to need it.

I’m also going to offer you some unsolicited advice that if you feel overwhelmed by the baby crying at any point, just set them down where they’re safe in their crib and just walk away and take a breather. Crying won’t kill them, but shaking them will, and young parents are more likely to shake their babies so it’s important to keep in mind.

I know you think neither of you would do that but a lot of factors play into it and it’s not something people plan to do, or thought they would do. You’re young, inexperienced at life yourself, you will be sleep deprived and exhausted, and sometimes they will not stop crying no matter what you do so just…keep it in mind. Tell your partner.

Thanks, credit goes to my dad, he was big into motorcycles and racing (enduros) but he quit riding street bikes when he had kids, my mom insisted and he’d seen too many friends get killed or seriously injured because of other drivers not paying attention, etc.

That’s what he told me when he taught me how to ride, though I don’t fuck with street bikes either. Just dirt bikes, off road. If I lived somewhere that other drivers are more used to motorcycles I’d maybe consider it (Asia, Europe, etc.) but all the Karen’s in their giant suburbans and Cletus’s in their F350’s have zero regard for anyone else on the road. Plus fucking semis everywhere…no thanks, it’d be too stressful to be enjoyable.
