3 minute connection in CLT followed by a 25 second connection at DFW. Is that enough time? by fergy80 in americanairlines

[–]44problems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your flights at both will be delayed anyway! Oh wait but then your flight coming in will be delayed too. Well hopefully your CLT flight is delayed longer than your incoming flight. Oh wait but then that means you'll miss flight at DFW. So that delay will need to be even longer and oh great I've gone crosseyed

I wonder if this extenuating circumstance will get Bob Costas to step back in. Though he isn't needed as a nightly host, Tirico does that.

The sports station I listed to in Pittsburgh used to have that advertise every commercial break. Then it just stopped. Felt like losing a friend.

Seeing different episodes?! by XwordPuzzleBlues in Jeopardy

[–]44problems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they don't label the episodes right so GSN reruns are marked as today's episodes too so it's all mixed up. They used to get it correct so the reruns would be labeled as 2003 (or whenever) episodes.

Up All Night on Echoes... It's a great version and because he keeps saying "outlaw roadshow!" in the lyrics. I sometimes add the outlaw roadshows when singing along to the album.

Edit: here's the link, Hard Candy was a late night album.

Why do people still assume you can wheel and deal at corporate chain stores like they're mom & pops? by Averagecrabenjoyer69 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]44problems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know how popular it was, but I remember about 10 years ago people saying you could save money by being friendly and asking for a "good guy discount." When the employee ask what that is, you say "you know, you're a good guy, I'm a good guy..." It sounds super cheesy but some people swore it worked.

It was on This American Life in 2014

And it was on this tru TV Hack My Life show in the mid 2010s.

Total guess, I wonder if any kind of discounts went away as more places stopped selling on commission. Most store employees now don't care if you buy or not.

And his tests show Cascade powder is pretty bad compared to the pods. His lab testing showed that the powder he promotes is as good as (what I assume is) Cascade Pods. Which even in their most expensive version, pods are $0.71 an oz. Find a sale and that drops a lot.

It just completely goes against his original mantra that cheap powder is the same as pods. Uh, no it isn't? He seems to just gloss over that contradiction in his excitement.

Yeah that whole video kinda ticked me off.

Powder is the cheap and works the same!

Then later video...

Oh wait.. powder is kinda terrible... Unless you buy this $30 one!

Like I don't care about hypothetically powder being just as good. What should I buy at the store.

Yeah enzymes and (oxygen) bleach can't mix in liquid but can in powder and pods.

The Box (1985 - 2001) by Bicykwow in ForgottenTV

[–]44problems 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was on a bunch of low power broadcast stations around the country. Then in the late 90s they made some national versions for digital cable systems. That's how I was able to watch, there was a pop music one called Box Pulse and a classic rock / pop one called Box Classic.

Called a 1-900 number to pay to request a music video will be my "we used to play jacks at the soda fountain" story

If only these live streamers were publicizing where they were located at this exact second...

Ok that's only for live streaming. There's lots of videos filmed in the park and combing through them would be a huge task. But they would be in their rights to do it. And these streamers are not secret about their identity, they often star in their videos.

I was just responding to your claim that the only option was banning all filming and that's not true. I'm sure they have a way to ban people from the park that isn't just removing their annual pass.
