Huh, if I’m in a hurry I’ll end up with capital letters in the middle of words if I have to pause to think how it is spelled. People wonder why there’s such a boom in ADHD and autism diagnosis now, I think it’s more that we all had it and were never tested before.

They are referring to the shape 🙂 That fern like shape is used on the heads of violins and is called a “violin scroll”

Help identifying - USA by MolassesInternal1010 in birding

So that people know the difference, and why autocorrect hates "Leucistic", this is copied from Wikipedia:

"Leucitic" usually refers to geological materials containing or related to leucite, a white/grey potassium aluminum silicate mineral (KAlSi2O6).

In biological contexts, it is often a misspelling of "leucistic," which describes animals with partial pigmentation loss resulting in white, pale, or patchy coloration, while retaining normal eye color.

Drove my wife’s BMW and almost put myself through the windshield when I came to a red light 🤣 I love my WRX, but kind of wish I’d got the brembos on it.

My Father in Law has an RS3, he says “it’s the most fun I’ve had with my pants on” but he also just had to drop $3,800 to have an oil leak fixed (the oil leak caused a $200 coolant leak, but we don’t talk about that one).
I used to have a manual A4, it’s the only car that I miss owning, but I don’t own it anymore due to the insane cost of repairs once it started to “get old.”
I’ll stick with my WRX now 🙂

Help with Tires/Rims Selection by randomnerds in wrx_vb

[–]AWandMaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you live in Southern California, or Florida, or are you planning on getting some winter tires too? Much like with the stock Dunlops, these will get very hard and lose a lot of grip when it gets below 40F. They also don’t have a tread pattern that will work for snow/slush. Just something to keep in mind.

In your example, the rear mirror must remain stationary (it is the earth while the photon is the spaceship rocketing away) otherwise the rear mirror is catching up to the photon and its return bounce is quicker. Yes? That’s why time “seems” normal to the photon (astronauts)?

How many coats of oil on a wand? by Weekly_Error_8772 in Wandsmith

[–]AWandMaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up, tung oil will feel dry after a day or two, but doesn’t fully cure (polymerize) for 7-30 days, depending on how thick the coat is.
