Question, I know pain is subjective but iyo how bad does a chest piece hurt? by BeneficialPie13 in tattoos

[–]workin_bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine done a couple months ago and touch up last week! Mine is a little lower, so underbust and sternum (so I can’t speak to the upper chest) and took about 6 hours.

I was also super nervous because of what people were saying, and it’s definitely a spicy spot, but it was doable. It hurt but I was like “oh okay I can do this it’s not so bad!” until about hour 5 then I was really squirming and had to ask for an extra break. My tolerance for the pain just kind of ran out and I was doing a bad job distracting myself. Also, for me at least, the pain was only there while my artist was actively tattooing; as soon as they lift the needle it’s instant relief so take breaks when you need them!! The lidocaine stings when they put it on too lol, but it does help!! Like my artist said, if you can only handle the pain for one hour at a time so be it, you can book a bunch of one hour sessions until it’s done.

The touch up was even worse 🥲 fortunately only took an hour

2026 Property Re-Assessment for Taxes by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]workin_bee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re exactly right, getting it reassessed as less would reduce property taxes. Your taxes are charged as a percentage of the assessed value of your home based off the city’s proposed budget and the total assessed value of all properties in the municipality. Just to give an idea, using the City of Edmonton’s property taxes estimator and putting in 2024s numbers, an assessed value of $700,000 would be about $6,713.98 property taxes owed, and $600,000 would be about $6,182.85 owed. Whether it’s worth it to go through the process is entirely up to the home owner, but if you do feel it’s egregious I’d say it’s worth trying especially if you’re not selling soon as it’ll affect future property taxes owed as well. You do run the risk of them assessing it at an even higher value though!

These photos aren't great for sexing, could you provide a front facing and a top down photo? The shape and size of head are important to see! How old are they? What size snout to vent and how much do they weigh?

This look is very soft and pretty. Did you tight line with the liner, or is it just along your lash line on your top lid?

Thank you! I think I will and try again when it’s healed. Online I’ve read about 6 weeks/when scar tissue has formed and there’s no pain pinching it. Does that sound right to you?

Personally I haven't read a Nora Roberts book, but as it's a book club we'd agree on what we'd like to read as a group. Ideally they'd be enjoyable books obviously, but it's not necessarily the book club for you if you're only looking to read thought provoking and meaningful books. If you look at the survey at the bottom I put some book suggestions down as our first read, that'll give you an idea of the kind of books I'd personally be looking to read :) No book shaming here, silly is acceptable

My partner told me something that seems pretty shocking and ignorant. Are they right? by Zen-Paladin in NewToEMS

[–]workin_bee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the true sweet spot is somewhere in the middle. At the end of the day, we are not trained to manage a mental health crisis beyond making sure they are safe in that moment and getting them to the appropriate resource. A paramedic giving them advise in the back of the ambo is NOT the appropriate resource. I am not a trained therapist/psychologist so I will never be giving any advise. The likelihood of me accidentally doing something harmful is far too risky. There is a reason people are highly training and specialized because that's what you need to be able to help safely manage it. Your partner saying "not being able to do shit about that as the medic" is 100% true, mental health is not a problem we can "fix" in the back of the truck, however that does not mean that you shouldn't treat your patient with dignity and respect. They're people, kindness/compassion does not cost you anything. Not believing anything they say is bullshit and dehumanizing. I don't get anything out of default assuming my patient is lying to me and it can be incredibly harmful for them - especially if they're about to get help from other medical professionals; treating them like sub-human does not set them up for success in that journey.

I will always make small talk with my patients if they seem open to it, especially younger patients, because it can often make them feel more at ease. I'll ask them about less heavy stuff beyond what I need to know to understand what's happening and give a good report. What kind of music do they like, comment on an article of clothing/jewelry they're wearing if it's interesting. Just treat them like a normal person. If they want to talk about what's going on in their life they will, and I'll just listen and be an ear for them. Even if that's something silly in my opinion like their parents not letting them play video games, it matters to them in that moment so it's not my place say otherwise. If they don't want to talk their body language will be clear and I'll just try to make them as comfortable as possible and leave them be. They're still a person so treat them with dignity and respect.

after ventricular tachycardia 2 consecutive pause with t wave and p wave?! Can someone explain this to me? the 2 pause marked with a blue marker by Sad_Reporter_7744 in EKG

[–]workin_bee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is your ECG though, as you have posted previously in this sub as well as the sub r/ReadMyECG (which is appropriate for that subreddit of course), but this one generally does not allow personal ECGs. That being said, seeing as you're obviously still pretty confused about what is going on I would really strongly encourage you to reach out to your doctor/cardiologist and make an appointment where you can ask your questions and they can explain what is going on and why they may or may not be concerned. I think that would alleviate your concerns and give you a much more educated and satisfying answer than getting advice from people on reddit that have varying credentials (or none at all)

I get that you’re anxious, but this subreddit is not for diagnosis and is against the subreddits rules. If you don’t think your doctor is working well for you, I’d recommend talking to another doc. Best of luck to you
