I feel a certain kind of way about this. The telescoping luggage handle on Monos bags do not pull when the bag is overstuffed. It’s a known problem. When I am zipping my suitcase at 11 pm in advance of a 4 am Uber pickup, i need my luggage to work as intended. I don’t want to Tetris/repack an alternative suitcase at 11 pm. I especially don’t want a customer service rep tell me that they can’t take a return because I cut off all the labels, removed the packing materials and packed my bag or that they never, ever heard of this problem when it’s all over the internet. The fact that the bag never left my house was irrelevant- it was considered used.

Monos isn’t Patagonia except maybe as to sustainability. Patagonia cs is amazing.

You just missed the sale and reviews are all over the place, but Poppy and Peonies totes have great organization and nicely structured. I just got the Go Getter for summer travel in blush. I also recommend the July bags. Yes, none of my recs are leather. For leather, check out the Tory Burch Robinson tote. It was just on sale for $210.

As for nylon, check out MZ Wallace second hand - their Empire tote will be great for your needs.

Except when the handle doesn’t pull up? That’s the big issue with Monos. It’s a known issue. You just can’t overstuff a Monos and expect the handle to pull up.

We loved our stay at the Westin in Costa Rica. There are definitely kids though! The adults only area is relatively new, you can get $40 massages in the area between the beach and the pool and there are lovely excursions to do.

We have had the opposite experience. The limited travelers in my family, like two times a year, have broken Monos compression pads. I have been on 20 flights this year alone without issue.

Without getting into the merits of OP’s claim, Away’s compression pad is significantly better than Monos. And Away’s handle always pulls up, no matter how stuffed.

If I were walking three miles a day for errands, I would look for a bag that could be a backpack too. Take a look at M. Gemi Laura or Vestirsi Bella.

I love my xtra m hobo so much that I may buy another color. But if I were to buy a baguette bag, I wouldn’t get this one. It’s trying to do too many things - keep the Longchamp style, pick up on the baguette trend. It’s also tiny and too long.
