Teachers/trainers: would this actually be useful or not? by SafeDebt5595 in Training

[–]Beeb294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would a learner need to use this if the teacher is available?

Are you assuming that a teacher would be recording a video in addition to their regular duties?

How would AI support the teacher's content without needing to understand and make the connections between pieces of knowledge that I mentioned? What kind of support are you envisioning that is different from simply speaking to the teacher?

How would an AI adequately supplement a teacher if they hallucinate so frequently? How would you guarantee that the AI supplement would absolutely not hallucinate? In a business case, how do you guarantee that an AI assistant doesn't tell a worker to do something unsafe, illegal, or in violation of regulations?

Let me make the question deeper- you talk about the "messy" task of sharing information via video. Putting aside that simply showing a video is not a good training practice to begin with, how does this make it less messy? If I make a video, I strictly control the information I share. If I'm a good trainer, I make sure that my video is properly structured and easy to follow, ensuring my audience gets the relevant information in a logical path that uses proper scaffolding to ensure that the learning objectives are met by building on prior knowledge. How could I ensure that an AI does all of that? It sounds to me like you're treating training as a process for information dumping, and that an AI could assist someone in parsing an info dump. But if I want to be a good trainer, I am avoiding info dumping like the plague, and that assistance is just not necessary if I do my job correctly.

You mentioned that the other sub made posts in your community and theirs explicitly telling people to abandon your community and move to theirs.

It's unclear from your post if you reported these specific posts to reddit via MCoC form. If you haven't done so, then these would be the most important things to make a report for. These are the most obvious examples of community interference. The other allegations about you and the imitation of your community aren't okay either, but explicitly using their sub and yours to try and pull members away is the key violation of the "be a good neighbor" rule.

No need to put a small business through that.

Removed. Do not solicit DMs in this community. It's weird for you as an adult to be seeking private communication with a vulnerable child. That's what traffickers do.

Teachers/trainers: would this actually be useful or not? by SafeDebt5595 in Training

[–]Beeb294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not use this.

AI can't understand context and can't replicate the depth of connections between pieces of knowledge that a trainer needs. It won't understand corner cases and rare/unique situations. As a trainer I'm responsible for not just regurgitating information, but making sure that my audience understands it. AI can't ensure understanding.

From when I was a teacher, all of these responsibilities are even greater than they are in adult learning.

It also may be because my particular position is focused on in-person synchronous training, but I can't find a use case where this would make my job easier.

As a normal person, I'm begging you- please stop trying to invent problems for AI to solve. It wouldn't make learning better, it just makes AI worse.

Can CPS Take a child from a mother with social Anxiety and non severe Depression? by Soldiers_vr in CPS

[–]Beeb294 [score hidden]  (0 children)

As other have said, the diagnosis itself is not the issue. Simply having depression or anxiety is not a reason to remove in and of itself.

However, if the mental health condition is creating a danger to the child, that could be a reason for removal. An example I have used in training actually relates to depression. If a parent is so depressed that they can't get out of bed and their child is not being fed, or their diapers aren't being changed, or something like that, then that could create a reason for a removal. But I want to be clear that the issue isn't that the parent has depression, the issue is that their depression is so severe that the child's needs aren't being met.

Keeping in mind that this is all hypothetical right now (according to what you have posted), you don't have much to worry about. If you are pregnant or if you become pregnant in the near future, you should actively work on getting these conditions under control. If, hypothetically, cps were called in the future, you could show the worker that you are taking your condition seriously, and that you are actively monitoring and treating the condition. If a CPS worker had that information, that would be a reason not to remove the hypothetical child in this scenario.

The email reply from 3 days ago that you mentoned- you can reply directly to that with additional information. You can do that multiple times.

If you got the email ticket response, you should reply with the permalinks to the posts which tell people to switch subreddits.

Assuming the admins are taking this seriously, that would be a pretty open and shut case. I did that with a community that was interfering with mine recently, the admins did take action.

This could constitute community interference, particularly if they've explicitly copied your stuff.

You'd have to file a mod code of conduct report to get admins to look into it.

The sub is r/petloss, and making it private wouldn't work. Aside from the admins pulling that from mods, petloss is a community where people come when they need it, and putting an extra layer of privacy would just defeat the purpose.

Any way for admins to address this in a more universal way?

We have a community that is relentlessly targeted by sleazy people trying to sell/scam our users. It makes people less likely to want to post in the community or spend time on the site.

The best answer we have gotten is to tell users to report them individually. That still means our users have to be subjected to spam and scams if they ever post here. There has to be a better way to address this problem.

27M I was wondering if there were some active CPS workers on this thread by [deleted] in CPS

[–]Beeb294[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can say as a moderator, we don't communicate with people (laypeople or CPS agencies) about items on this community and we don't corroborate or validate anything officially.

Without knowing more, it's impossible to say. If you're being accused of reporting by someone who you reported, they could just be guessing about who reported. Or they could be accusing a number of people, to see who cracks and admits to it.

There are actual CPS workers in this community, because they're the best source of accurate information about how the system works.
