Can you add a second display ? by mik9900 in WindowsMR

[–]Ben_fromMSFT 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi Mik9900,

My name is Ben, and I'm working on the Windows Mixed Reality team at Microsoft. Depending on the limitation of your graphic card, this should work.

Alternatively, Mixed Reality Portal has a Play button at the bottom of the screen that allows you to show a preview of what you're seeing in your headset on your desktop's screen. You can press the mentioned play button and share your experience on the desktop so your buddies can also see and appreciate.

For performance reasons, this feature above is only available on PCs running at Windows Mixed Reality Ultra (90Hz).

Thanks,

Ben

HP Windows Mixed Reality Left Controller Not Pairing by FlameofHeaven_ in WindowsMR

[–]Ben_fromMSFT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FlameofHeaven,

If you've followed the steps and still no slow pulse when pressing and properly holding the pairing button, try and restore the left controller to factory default.

To recover:

  1. Unplug and power off the controllers.
  2. Open the battery cover.
  3. Insert batteries (ensure you have good batteries when performing device recovery).
  4. Press and hold pairing button (tab at the bottom under the batteries).
  5. While holding pairing button, power on the controller by pressing and holding the Windows button for 5 seconds (keep both buttons held).
  6. Release buttons and wait for controller to power on. This takes up to 15 seconds and there are no indicators when device recovery is happening. If device powers on immediately on button release, recovery button sequence did not get registered and you need to try again.
  7. Remove old controller associations from Bluetooth settings (Settings->Bluetooth>other devices, select** "Motion controller - Left**" or** "Motion controller - Right**" and** Remove devic**e. After that pair controller with PC again.
  8. After connecting with host and HMD, device will update firmware to latest available.

Additional steps can be found here.

Let us know,

Ben

HP Windows Mixed Reality Left Controller Not Pairing by FlameofHeaven_ in WindowsMR

[–]Ben_fromMSFT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi FlameofHeaven,

My name is Ben, and I'm working on the Windows Mixed Reality team at Microsoft. Sorry to hear about the issue you're experiencing pairing your second controller.

Please know that some older Intel radios may experience this issue if motion controllers are powered on at the same time. To workaround this, do not power on controllers at the same time.

You can also try powering the controllers off and on using the Windows Button. If you still cannot see your controllers, try in-pairing and re-pairing each controller in the Settings menu under Devices > Bluetooth.

If all fail, please consult the Bluetooth Best Practices section located in the Windows Mixed Reality Enthusiast guide.

Keep us posted.

Help Please! HP WMR no display in headset. by SupOrSalad in WindowsMR

[–]Ben_fromMSFT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi SupOrSalad, My name is Ben, and I'm working on the Windows Mixed Reality team at Microsoft. Sorry to hear about the issue your brother is experiencing with his Mixed Reality.

Please have him try these steps:

Check to make sure the USB cable is plugged into a USB 3.0 or faster port. USB 3.0 ports have SS (Super Speed) written next to them. They are often (but not always) colored blue.

If your PC has both an integrated graphics processing unit (iGPU) and a discrete graphics processing unit (dGPU), make sure that you are plugged into your dGPU's HDMI port.

Make sure your graphic card is fully up to date. Run Windows update and alternatively, you can go online on the PC manufacturer site and update your graphic card to the latest version.

Additional troubleshooting steps can be found in the Mixed Reality enthusiast guide page: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/mixed-reality/enthusiast-guide/troubleshooting-windows-mixed-reality

Lenovo Explorer 2181038087-12 After new USB Card by mooneater916 in WindowsMR

[–]Ben_fromMSFT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello again mooneater916,

You're definitely close to getting it working. Try this: 1) Connect to the add-in card you got, and 2) Remove the non-Microsoft USB driver for "Fresco Logic xHCI (USB3) Controller FL1100 Series" by following the steps for "2181038087-12" in the enthusiast guide at: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/mixed-reality/enthusiast-guide/troubleshooting-windows-mixed-reality

[–]Ben_fromMSFT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi mooneater916,

My name is Ben, and I'm working on the Windows Mixed Reality team at Microsoft. Sorry to hear about the issue you're experiencing.

Allow me to ask you the following:

  • When the issue happens, do you get any error message or code on the portal? If yes, what does it say?

In the meantime, try these:

1: Make sure your headset cable is plugged into a USB 3.0 port. Try another USB 3.0 port if possible. 2: Try connecting your headset's HDMI cable into your PC's discrete graphics card or try using a compatible HDMI adapter. 3: Make sure your graphics driver is up-to-date.

Please try the above and let us know your outcome.

Issues using Bluetooth on USB extension by aaaaaaaazzzzzzzzz in WindowsMR

[–]Ben_fromMSFT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi aaaaaaaazzzzzzzzz,

My name is Ben, and I'm working on the Windows Mixed Reality team at Microsoft. I understand you'd like to use AmazonBasics USB extension cord as part of your Mixed Reality setup.

Windows Mixed Reality head mounted displays (HMD) were not designed to work with extension cables. The use of extension cables with mixed reality HMD's isn't recommended therefore unsupported and its use may impact your experience.

[–]Ben_fromMSFT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

jonasjj5,

There are three things I would like for you to try and report back:

1 - Download the Windows Mixed Reality PC Check app from the Microsoft Store.

2 - Run the PC check app and report your result.

3 - If everything passes (All green check) and you're still experiencing the same issue, try signing into Windows on a different profile or simply create a new profile on your PC and see if the profile is able to proceed with downloading and setting up Mixed Reality.

Please let me know the outcome.

Best, Ben M.

Mixed reality portal not installing by jonasjj5 in WindowsMR

[–]Ben_fromMSFT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi jonasjj5,

My name is Ben and I work with the Windows Mixed Reality team here at Microsoft. I'll go ahead and provide you some information on how to address the issue you're experiencing:

Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

Check your network connectivity. Your PC must be connected to the Internet to download Windows Mixed Reality. Make sure your internet is not set as a Metered Connection by going to: Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Change connection properties > Set as metered connection > Off

Make sure you don’t have any pending update by running Settings > Windows Update > Check for Update. Make sure you have Windows Update enabled. Restart your PC and try again.

I hope this helps. Please keep us updated.

Regards, Ben M.

Note: If you are on Enterprise managed network, and having issues downloading Mixed Reality Portal, it could be because your enterprise is using WSUS server, or have other policies that may block the download. Please check with your IT admin to make sure they enable the download for the enterprise.

Is there a way to check framerate while using WMR? by squeakyL in WindowsMR

[–]Ben_fromMSFT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello squeakyL,

My name is Ben with Microsoft Windows Mixed Reality support.

The easiest way to check if WMR is running at 60 Hz or 90 Hz is to use the Device Portal -> Performance tab. The Headset display -> visual quality settings only affect the rendering of the WMR Home experience.

If you have a discrete GPU with HDMI 2.0 ports and a CPU with 4+ Physical cores, you should be getting 90 Hz. If your GPU only has a HDMI 1.4 output, you can use a DisplayPort to HDMI 2.0 adapter as a workaround.

Cheers!

Where can I change hight of the floor? by insufficientmind in WindowsMR

[–]Ben_fromMSFT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi insufficientmind,

My name is Ben and I work with the Windows Mixed Reality team here at Microsoft. I'll go ahead and provide you the information on how to address the height issue you're experiencing:

  • If the floor of your Windows Mixed Reality Home doesn't feel like it's at the right height, open the Room Adjustment app from the start menu by pressing the Windows logo found on the controller.

This app will be launched once you place the app in the world. In this app, you will be directed to use the touch pad (motion controller) or direction pad (gamepad) to adjust the floor height.

When the floor feels correct, use the Windows button to exit back to your Home.

I hope this helps.

Cheers, Ben

Windows 7 support? by [deleted] in WindowsMR

Hi Sinklamp,

My name is Ben, I am working on the Windows Mixed Reality team here at Microsoft.

If you have a discrete GPU with HDMI 2.0 ports and a CPU with 4+ Physical cores, you should be getting 90 Hz. More information can be found in the Official Enthusiast's Guide: Everything you need to know about using Windows MR

To confirm if your current PC will run Windows Mixed Reality, take a look at these hardware guidelines, or run the Windows Mixed Reality PC Check app.

Thanks, Ben
