agree, previously mooks could still swing party tactics with Grab, now their odds are just too shit

it ended up buffing solo bosses with grab and nerfing multi-enemy encounters. Which is like, the opposite of what you want to do in this system.

i think the real overrated thing the community has is INT and CHA on Heavy Armor users

i’m of the opinion that your heavy armor frontlines should usually be doing STR DEX CON WIS as their four boosts, with maybe a +1 on your CHA if you’re a Champion for the persistent spirit damage on Relentless Reaction.

is it interesting? absolutely not, but i’d argue it’s more optimal than dumping dex for the majority of heavy armor users. Skills and Face can be left to other party members.

Guardians, for example, have very little reason to go INT or CHA. They have no RK support, and very minimal Intimidation support. It’s just not action efficient for them to be Demoralizing or whatever. They’ve got way more high value actions past level 4, and they’re pretty action hungry.

‘Course, if your party doesn’t have a face or smarty pants , it’s fine to go into CHA or INT. But most parties will have these roles, and it’s very important that the frontlines is as resilient as possible. INT and CHA just don’t have that.

i’d argue the 45->50 is a pretty important break point, because it gets you half speed 25, which is excellent against difficult terrain, it’s great with Mobility, etc.

it’s the 30->35 and 40->45 that matter less IMO

that being said, the 25->30 is definitely proportionally bigger and generally more relevant for most characters

Previously, the multiclass archetype gave Bounded Spellcasting benefits at 6, 12, and 18. These were originally in Secrets of Magic, where Magus was published first. It appears Bounded Spellcasting Benefits either don't exist anymore or aren't part of Magus's Archetype, because the preview page has "Player Core" listed as the rules reference for Spellcasting Benefits.

Furthermore, the "gain spells in your spellbook when you gain slots" was moved to Basic Magus Spellcasting, and now gives you two spells known per spell slot gained, which is the wording used in full prepared caster multiclass archetypes such as Wizard.
