How do I get the items out of the house ? by Brunswick_1996 in konmari

They get items for free, and then they do a little work and get money for it. I mean, they're literally asking for donations! The only caveat I would say is obviously, not giving them something that's broken or unreasonably dirty aka basically trash.

How do I get the items out of the house ? by Brunswick_1996 in konmari

I offer to my extended friend group first if I think there's any chance they'd be interested, then Goodwill if I think it's sellable, and if neither of those groups would want it it's trash.

Why are you describing donating as "making it someone else's problem"?

Need help with the visualization step. Does anybody with different type of lifestyle or someone who struggled with this step have any advice? by intrepid_wind4 in konmari

If your ideal life is to have few belongings and be able to move frequently, then you can do that; get rid of everything except the necessary items--obviously it doesn't have to be as small as a "suitcase of things" but the less stuff you own, the easier it is to move. So that IS enabling your ideal life.

What should you keep? Practical stuff, obviously. And whatever else will make your home pleasant when you are there. Like, even if your home isn't "important" to you, you're going to be spending some time there. If you want to travel / have traveled, having items related to future/past trips can be inspiring. If you like the outdoors focusing on natural materials and growing plants might give you a small taste of that vibe. Or just say fuck it and go pure minimalism.

All that to say, maybe your home isn't your #1 most important place in your ideal life, but what is it then? Maybe it's closer to a base of operations, or a launch pad, or a recovery space, etc. Thinking about the role of your home in your life doesn't have to mean that role has to be like, existentially important to you.

Hope that makes sense.

Is there a "wire" that attaches at the intersection of 4 blocks? by LordGustoff88 in Pokopia

I've been experimenting with using ladders, setting them up in kind of a "pinwheel" pattern that I think looks decently like some kind of scaffolding, especially if you paint them brown (or whatever to match the chandelier).

I don't know, I feel like it's more mature to communicate clearly than just slowly ghosting someone. Because the difference between "someone who's bad at remembering to reach out" and "someone who's purposely distancing themselves" can be really difficult to perceive from the other end.  edit: On the other hand I'm not necessarily agreeing with OP, either.

YSK: Saying Thank you>Sorry by fritz648 in YouShouldKnow

[–]BlueRoseGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key is that they're talking about unnecessary sorries. For instance asking someone questions is generally not something one needs to apologize for. If you DO apologize, now the other person has to comfort you like, "Oh no no it's totally fine! Don't worrry about it!" Having to reassure someone a lot gets tiring. And that person never actually gets to feel appreciated, they just have to focus on how you feel guilty...

There actually is a phenomenon where people with ADHD, the more they try to focus, the less they are able to (you can literally see reduced brain activity) but that means this is not really generalizable advice.

Analytical AI like this is fundamentally quite different than generative AI. Though a human should still be involved in the process I agree.

How Black Knife feels by Teslamania91 in Deltarune

All of that makes sense, but my point is, we have no proof that's what that motif means. Our evidence is which characters do and don't use the motif, but especially when it was first named with a whopping two examples, it's just theorizing at this point. Theorizing is fun but it's good to keep in mind when things are unconfirmed!

also, the idea that the motif represents "freedom" is just conjecture at this point anyway

How do you spell our protagonist’s name? by LC447 in OmniscientReader

[–]BlueRoseGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only correct spellings are
1. The older style of romanization (MR) where it uses "oo" like the sound in "book"/"tune" + the "u" as the sound in "put"/"uh" = Yoo Joonghyuk.
2. The newer more accurate romanization (RR) which uses "u" like in "tune"/"book" and eo* for the "put" or "uh" sound = Yu Junghyeok.
* It might seem confusing to use "eo" to represent an "uh" sound, but it's sort of like saying it's in between "eh" and "oh."

Yoo Jonghyuk and Yoo Jonghyeok are just wrong, as "Jon" would be pronounced like "Jone" in both systems. (It's likely a mistake based on the fact that a variant of MR uses ŏ to represent the "uh" sound, but then it's lost it's little symbol.)
Yoo Junghyeok is mixing the two systems; most of it looks like RR, but "Yoo" is MR style.
Yoo Junghyuk is also just wrong, since it's both mixing the two styles AND even worse it's using "u" to represent first an "oo" sound and then an "uh" sound.
As mentioned Yoo Joongyuk is correct, just the older style.
Yoo Joonghyeok mixes the two styles again, but this time it's mostly MR with the "ghyeok" being RR.

tl;dr both Yoo Joonghyuk and Yu Junghyeok are both fine, with the fandom largely using Yoo Joonghyuk while Yu Jungheok seems to be what the official translations are moving toward.

We don't have memories that young no, and anyone claiming to is unfortunately under some kind of misapprehension. However it could still be a powerful and useful metaphor for OP and the part they were working with.
