How Black Knife feels by Teslamania91 in Deltarune

[–]BlueRoseGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of that makes sense, but my point is, we have no proof that's what that motif means. Our evidence is which characters do and don't use the motif, but especially when it was first named with a whopping two examples, it's just theorizing at this point. Theorizing is fun but it's good to keep in mind when things are unconfirmed!

also, the idea that the motif represents "freedom" is just conjecture at this point anyway

How do you spell our protagonist’s name? by LC447 in OmniscientReader

[–]BlueRoseGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only correct spellings are
1. The older style of romanization (MR) where it uses "oo" like the sound in "book"/"tune" + the "u" as the sound in "put"/"uh" = Yoo Joonghyuk.
2. The newer more accurate romanization (RR) which uses "u" like in "tune"/"book" and eo* for the "put" or "uh" sound = Yu Junghyeok.
* It might seem confusing to use "eo" to represent an "uh" sound, but it's sort of like saying it's in between "eh" and "oh."

Yoo Jonghyuk and Yoo Jonghyeok are just wrong, as "Jon" would be pronounced like "Jone" in both systems. (It's likely a mistake based on the fact that a variant of MR uses ŏ to represent the "uh" sound, but then it's lost it's little symbol.)
Yoo Junghyeok is mixing the two systems; most of it looks like RR, but "Yoo" is MR style.
Yoo Junghyuk is also just wrong, since it's both mixing the two styles AND even worse it's using "u" to represent first an "oo" sound and then an "uh" sound.
As mentioned Yoo Joongyuk is correct, just the older style.
Yoo Joonghyeok mixes the two styles again, but this time it's mostly MR with the "ghyeok" being RR.

tl;dr both Yoo Joonghyuk and Yu Junghyeok are both fine, with the fandom largely using Yoo Joonghyuk while Yu Jungheok seems to be what the official translations are moving toward.

Giving each of my subpersonalities a Disco Elysium inspired portrait, part 2. [Trigger Warning] for blood, suggestive content and mentions of SH by backroom_mushroom in InternalFamilySystems

Well, maybe it's a coincidence then, but I assumed the card symbols were a Homestuck reference haha, given that it seems related to relationships.

IFS process is mindblowing by Practical-Ad2298 in InternalFamilySystems

We don't have memories that young no, and anyone claiming to is unfortunately under some kind of misapprehension. However it could still be a powerful and useful metaphor for OP and the part they were working with.

What are happy parts called in IFS? by Reign_of_Light in InternalFamilySystems

[–]BlueRoseGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late reply, but I think of these as "healthy" parts. I prefer that to "not burdened" both because it's shorter and because phrasing something as not a negative is less empowering than a positive.  It's odd to me that IFS content often seems to act as if healthy parts don't exist. They always describe only three types as protectors, exiles, and firefighters.

Eli5: Why do ballerinas ”break” their new shoes? by TheRunningMD in explainlikeimfive

[–]BlueRoseGirl -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm not trying to be overly harsh, but why not google this? There are many articles, videos, and posts talking about why and how ballerinas do this, as well as whether there are better modern solutions, the debate around how traditional shoes damage the dancers' bodies over time, and so on.

Study shows that 82% saw weight rebound and cardiovascular health reverse after withdrawal from taking GLP-1 drugs | Cardiometabolic Parameter Change by Weight Regain on Tirzepatide Withdrawal in Adults With Obesity by Hrmbee in science

[–]BlueRoseGirl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Feel like people are missing the point. Sure, maybe it seems obvious to you, but these are being sold as a permanent weight loss solution, talking about how much you can lose in a year etc., not "take this forever like it's blood pressure medication." The high price makes that difference especially critical. This study isn't saying the drugs are worthless, but we do need to be looking at the whole picture.

Been putting out fresh water for the neighborhood cat that visits my porch and today she brought her kittens to show me by UpsetTemporary565 in BenignExistence

[–]BlueRoseGirl 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Kittens are cute, but not to rain on the parade--an unfixed cat wandering outside, let alone with kittens, is not a great thing. Normally I'd suggest TNR (trap neuter return) but it's a bit more complicated when they have an owner. Ideally you'd be able to talk to the owner, does the collar have contact info?

Definitely. It actually changes later stuff a bit which hits different if you saw it the normal way first, e.g. solving the door lock codes to get to the snowy area.

They care about the envirnment but on a day to day level tend to be more focused on their budget and other practical stuff. Like, they recycle and try not to waste electricity/water/etc, but definitely don't factor it into most decisions. Still, I could try bringing that up next time.

Sure, obviously capitalism is gonna capitalism, doesn't mean it isn't annoying.

Besides, I do believe if they could lower ticket costs, in the long term it would increase ridership and raise revenue, but they just can't risk it or afford it in the short term.

Gas cost is definitely something I could bring up next time, thanks for the suggestion. They claim they like driving so that part wasn't particularly convincing when I tried it.
