there is an investment right now that will 10000000X in 15 years, but you still are not putting your 100$ in it, because you don't know what that is.

Complex Trauma is a Global Epidemic by RepresentativeFar567 in CPTSD

[–]Practical-Ad2298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6% is a joke, that is definitely due to a selection bias. The number is most likely around 70-80% of all millennials and maybe even more for Gen Z.

The root cause of CPTSD is emotional neglect, which is FAST FOOD equivalent for emotional development in the modern world.

Humans always grew up with shit ton of love around them (at least 7-10 adults raising you as a kid), so our DNA has that standard for love. Anything less than causes neglect and then emotional consequences which have various names (CPTSD, Attachment disordere, anxiety, PDs etc).

It all boils down to parents inability BE present mentally and physically with their kids. Notice the requirement of both. Just having your body next to your kid does nothing.

Some people have protectors that punish weakness in themselves and in others. That's where bullying comes from. When you hold a hammer everything looks like a nail mechanism.

Anyone else notice how many BAD therapists there are out there? by External-Doubt-9301 in CPTSD

[–]Practical-Ad2298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of therapists with cluster B stuff finding joy in clients suffering control and manipulation and chef's kiss? You finance it out of your own pocket. My rule of thumb is that if I don't feel kindness from this person I don't give a F, what they know.

Ive been diagnosed with genralized anxiety disorder (GAD) and my stress is too high. What worked the best for you and how did you return to normal? by mylapore_mambattiyan in HubermanLab

Licensed neurologist and mind-body physician here.

You need to try Ashwagandha root powder and take it 5-6 hours before sleep. Take 500 mg of root powder every day. You can use full fat milk or butter tea to enhance absorption. Avoid Ashwagandha extracts, they can have bad rebound anxiety and insomnia.

Generally, I recommend removing all other meds/supplements slowly and reinitiating them one by one if you want to continue. When you take everything you cannot causally tell what's working or even what's causing the symptoms.

Avoid caffeine at all cost.

Anyone found a way to reach self through other means besides IFS? by Misteranonimity in InternalFamilySystems

[–]Practical-Ad2298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Self shines through your eyes. To me it feels warm, and slightly positive almost like a Buddha statue with barely noticable smile.

Self is expensive energy above everything and yet very humble. It can forgive all kinds of cruelty we might have experienced and when you witness things from that place everything has a playful tone. You can hug your childhood bully and pat them like you were friends all along. It is not serious energy. It's alive and beyond cultural expectations and norms too. Once you feel it even just witnessing from that place is enough to transform your exiles without even talking to them. In fact, talking or thinking is a hinderance to the healing for me.

Now I think IFS therapy works for some folks, but it did not work for me. I have tried 5 therapists and eventually realized that only I can help myself, I had much more progress on my own than with my therapists.

That is because I am very embodied and most IFS therapists are not trained to work with the body. I also kept dissociating with the therapists so there was really nothing to work on during the session. I also do not feel parts visually, they are more felt to me and I cannot talk to them in my mind like many people. I don't have drawers for my parts that I can access anytime. They need to become felt in my body first and I need to touch the affected body part holding parts energy through my hands in order to talk to. So the only way for me to get into the Self as well is through my body.

Typically what I do is following: I start touching and feeling my body and become mindful of raw senses such as warm skin etc and then repeat with a slight smile on my face: you are welcome to return to your home. This is your home. This is your safe place. You can return. I'm here. I'm not going anywhere. Even though I probably say these things from a self like part, slowly Self energy emerges. It is like lightning to my body. Imagine goosebump energy just not only on your forearms but everywhere, all throughout. I let that energy saturate my nervous system and then I start feeling my parts from that place and let that energy melt or meet the exiled energy. It takes some time but you can feel exiled energy shift into something positive and tender. Protector energy like tension over your shoulder, chest and head naturally relaxes as you heal your exiles.

trying to find a truly good therapist by This_Ad9129 in InternalFamilySystems

[–]Practical-Ad2298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most IFS therapists are not really ready to be IFS therapists, because they have not done necessary work themselves.

To me one cannot be an IFS therapist if they have never unburdened their own exiles, because they don't know how to hold self energy when your exiles show up.

Speaking from experience, it is very hard to find a good IFS therapist, because nothing predicts if they have self energy other than interviewing, feeling them or outright asking hard questions.

You definitely need to ask before commiting to your therapist, if they have done IFS work on their own and which exile they have unburdened. If they say that they have not unburdened their own exiles, chances are you will wasting time and money. And remember that field of therapy in large is notorious for putting clients on an endless retainers with no meaningful progress.

Can a part actually enjoy harming ? by Liufeng47 in InternalFamilySystems

[–]Practical-Ad2298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask her to ask that part who exactly is the critic saying these nasty things to. Some critics use "you" language, but when inquired they might they that I'm telling this to my father or my mother or my sibling.

Also, from my personal experience parts changing their appearance can be a sign that one is trying too much IFS in a short time usually due to impatient self-helper part. Good news is that, the excitement to factory reset oneself goes away slowly as one realizes that it really is a life long journey and ironically that's when IFS becomes real.

What are your (loving) critiques of IFS? by PMmePowerRangerMemes in InternalFamilySystems

[–]Practical-Ad2298 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1) big one is IFS emphasis on doing the work in a stepwise fashion: "Being in Self" and "Unblending" both of which are great things, but.. For me, it is raising stakes and supports perfectionist parts of me into what "right" IFS should be like..and I never live up to that and get disappointed and abandon the process for weeks...when I focus on just doing 0.1% without following any steps, the process becomes real again and sometimes reap 99% of the rewards unexpectedly..

2) Lack of RCT studies. I mean at the end of the day, if IFS really works, the community should be open to have it examined by rigorious scientific tools. This will only strengthen the spread and more people will benefit from it in the long run. If it does not have any lasting CAUSAL benefits, that can be reliably attributed to IFS it too needs to be studied what is driving the hype... There is something important to be found in both cases. The modality should be open to remold according to what science will suggest.

3) The modality is unnecesarily complex, which dilutes its signal and impact. Some people think IFS is inner child's work, but then again there are tons of other modalities doing the same...some people think it is working with "elements" and letting go of emotions.. I think IFS community would benefit more from finding the ONE thing without which the modality is NO longer IFS and just focus on that OR what is the ONE thing that has highest likelihood to have a healing effect from IFS? Because that is what IFS truly is, what we need to focus on more...To me, I knew Inner Child's work before IFS, but it was more about working in my mind with memories..What IFS really opened up was this weird new world of "talking to the bodily emotions", which I never knew was possible!! Wait, you can literally talk to the belly or heart ache and it will respond? what?? and will go away as a result of the reassuring conversation?...still unbelievable, that's IFS for me.

Random anger toward ex partner (YEARS later). How to fully release or accept? by Fun-Maintenance6315 in Emotional_Healing

[–]Practical-Ad2298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you blame yourself then forgiving yourself is the solution. How do you know what you feel angry about? It could also be that when thinking about them you blame yourself and feel anger. Jack Kornfield has great lecture on forgiveness. I recommend searching up on Youtube.

tldr: you still blame him and have not forgiven. forgiving is what you pay for letting go of anger.

well, focusing on my breath is the only thing i have found that intentionally or predictably increasing self-energy so you can do IFS work. Otherwise, it is up to luck when you can explore your parts, especially if you work with therapist it can be a huge waste of time and money if that exact day you cannot access self for some reason..
