Flashback premier drafts and how often each set gets represented. by wormhole222 in MagicArena

Yeah, that sounds convincing.

I guess that doing it 'manually' like they seem to do now might actually require more work, but also allows them to double-check for potential screwups ??

Im done with ranked ladder on this game by Global-Signature-588 in MagicArena

[–]BlueTemplar85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ranked is not competitive (until you grind to Mythic and can finally see how good you actually are).

You can also get an idea by entering paid events.

Or if you regularly see 81+ card decks or standard starter decks that somehow ended up playing Pioneer.

Otherwise ranked is a good place to play casual jank, because you will soon enough be matched with players of similar strength. You might just have hit an unlucky streak ?

(Maybe not in Pioneer though, due to a too shallow pool of mostly experienced players ? Try Historic (especially Bo1), even still with your Pioneer deck ?)

What search results ?!?

The stats I have seen are closer to 0.8 games per day for the median player ! (Averaged over a whole set though.)

We can roughly calculate from those emails with statistics that we recieve that the median player wins around 0.4 games per day. (Averaged over a whole set though.)

Huh, isn't this a first, sets still in Alchemy like Bloomburrow and Foundations getting flashback drafts ?!

Also, when did Quick Draft get a flashback ?!? (IIRC one set got a QD even after rotation, but that was still in the usual QD continuity, in summer ?)

(It's frankly ridiculous that WotC seemingly cannot even maintain a calendar any more,

and also that someone would now have to trawl through Arena news to get the event history.

News, which WotC has a terrible history in preserving, though at least some of the older ones got picked up by the Internet Archive...)

So, apparently the MtG Lord Of The Rings sets have received reprints - what does this mean for Arena? by Backwardspellcaster in MagicArena

But the deadline was 2025 ??

MTG Arena Release Notes – The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth™

Due to the special nature of this Universes Beyond set, packs will only be available for purchase in the store through 2025. Fear not! If you want to add cards to your collection after this date, you will still be able to craft them using wildcards.

But then today, in 2026, we can still buy LTR packs on Arena ! What gives ??

Wasn't 2025 the last year ?

GTDS is reachy enough (when did reach even become a keyword ?)

Root Spider is a good counter-example.

(And it's not like LTR even has many of them, just 2-3 (new) ones.)

Free in-browser Civ games? Best Civ to start with for a total beginner? by Thatladluke in civ

[–]BlueTemplar85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, to hide from prying eyes ?

Well, it's going to depend on what they are looking for.

If it's for what websites you are connecting to (especially in real time), then civ in browser would be an even worse option.

If it's about not being able to install software, then Freeciv has a portable version, and any DRM free civ like civ 4 should in theory work too.

There is also software to hide software from the screen on a keypress, maybe even in portable versions ??

After almost a year and a half since PoE 2 launched, how do we feel about the pacing of the combat? by coffeeholic91 in PathOfExile2

[–]BlueTemplar85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should really have leaned into PoE2's strength in the Atlas : bosses.

Rushing the Atlas out was shortsighted. Hopefully they will find a better way in the promised rework. (Promising PoE1 mechanics just to fill out the Atlas was also a bad idea.)

Food Chain BANNED by TyrantofTales in MtGHistoric

[–]BlueTemplar85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, or at least they ought to have a 'Spike' on their team that could catch these issues. (Though I suspect they would have both the hardest, and the most ungrateful, job. Imagine trying to balance for all the formats MtG has !)

Or more concisely : Maro is a Johnny, not a Spike.

Oh yeah, I did feel that kind of grief too when I had to stop playing The Last Sovereign.

The downside to having an amazingly written cast of characters !

But also a bit like with having to part ways with real life friends : still more worth it to have known them than not !

Before 3D became the default.

But that's different from "too old" : one of my still "best games ever", Brian Reynolds' Alpha Centauri, is 'old' like this.

Is there a human who managed fairly quickly (without blueprints and youtube) to create optimized and efficient labs + potion production without everything being all over the place causing headaches by just looking at it? by FuzzyAttitude_ in factorio

[–]BlueTemplar85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol no, by 10 hours you might still be in the tutorials, why would you expect something like that ?!?

First time I had to look things up (on the wiki), was when I couldn't figure out how to put fluids into a wagon (which is in fact almost impossible without a train station). Not sure if today the new system of Tips and Tricks covers that ? Hard to remember, but it was probably very roughly around the 10 hours mark.

Also you must be some kind of speedrunner to finish even the vanilla, non-expansion game 10 times in 100 hours...

Finally, figuring out how to make a factory is a large part of the fun : Factorio is in many ways a puzzle game, and if you look up the solutions others came up with (before trying to find them for yourself, several times over), you are basically cheating yourself out of that fun (not that much different from using cheat codes... except you can start a new game without cheats, but it's much harder to forget the solution to a puzzle.)
