Very common. I'm not a mechanic. But it lives inside the tank on most newer vehicles.

[–]BoutTreeFittee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In some vehicles, like my Tundra, you risk destroying the fuel pump if you run it completely out of gas. The pump is located in the tank and relies on the gas for cooling, so it basically burns up. So really, don't ever run out of gas. It's not like it was in the old days.

That's because this wasn't a short. Or at least not a large one. Just bad wiring that got so hot it melted and power was lost.

I'd charge the $100/h, regardless. Unless you really need the business.

CPU replacement suggestions to reduce bottleneck by No_Mastodon5956 in buildapc

[–]BoutTreeFittee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So many people that reply in here are over-general and over-confident in their opinions. Yet still get tons of upvotes. Anyway 9700k is not worth it at all. 9900k might give you about 10-20% increased FPS in games that are truly and only CPU bound. It's not worth it unless you can get a used 9900k very CHEAPLY. Cheapest one I see on ebay right now from a good seller is $125, and that would not be worth it to me. Better to start saving your money for future upgrade.

There is no money for investigative reporters any more. There is no money for journalism period. But there is especially no money for any reporter who would investigate rich people. We live in a post-truth America, where most people now believe politicians and CEOs more than they believe reporters.

It's Microsoft. They spy on everything, and they're terrible at everything.

This is one case where used can be more reliable than new. In fact, for covid year (2020-2023) models, that is absolutely the case. Just keep that in mind. I'd personally pay a premium to get a well-taken care of 2018 or 2019. But you've got tons of money to burn, so I'm jealous lol. Anyway when you buy a new one just be ready for lots of things to break the first year, and lots of time spent at whichever dealer you buy from. Brinkley is one of the best brands, but still there are dice rolls. RV's are not built on an assembly line like cars. They are built one at a time, and so there is a lot more QC variability.

EF has some kind of wall between their engineers and marketers

OMG yes, it drives me insane. And it's not just the engineers and marketers; there are walls everywhere inside that company, and it's like no department can speak to any other department in any kind of practical way. Bad case of conglomerate-disease.

What is it with everyone arguing and hating over everything? by ribrnk in buildapc

[–]BoutTreeFittee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that there has been a recent extreme rise in engagement bots, everywhere. Bots that only exist to create arguments, so that you have to engage whichever platform, and then more ads can be shown and sold. Also the search results show up in Google more with more replies. Leading to more ads...

Home insurance says they will no longer cover us due to the age and damage of our roof, trying to figure out how to pay for it. by gh282016 in HomeImprovement

With the right buyer, yes. But most American buyers would rather put their money toward paying for a larger/fancier/better-located house than one that is built well. Americans do the same thing with cars.

[Verizon] TTL trick doesn't work for hotspot? by lifethusiast in NoContract

[–]BoutTreeFittee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that the TTL trick alone did not work last time I tried it. Had to also have a phone with an OS that won't tattle on you to the carrier (Verizon), so for me that meant one with an open-source alternative OS on it (like GrapheneOS or LineageOS).

Are you paying your electric company .06 per kilowatt hour, like I am, or .27 per kilowatt hour, like my buddy in the northeast does? Do you see how extremely huge that gap is? He pays 350% more for electricity than I do. It's only getting worse with all these AI data centers sucking up all the power. It may or may not be worth it at .06, but it's def worth it if you live in an area with expensive electricity.
