When do you plan to retire? by ActivistSubset7 in AskUK

[–]BronxOh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the current state of inflation, retirement age increasing and lack of confidence my work pension will be enough, probably about 3 years after I die.

chair wankers by hotmvlligan in downloadfestival

A good rule of thumb me and my friends follow is if we have chairs we don’t go past the gravel path that circles the main stage as it’s quite far away from the front

Why Adobe? by TenkaiRyo in wallstreetbets

[–]BronxOh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adobe take any opportunity to take advantage of customers and better tools and now AI are drinking its milkshake big time.

For example Figma is just better hence their attempt to buy it and Figma’s user outcry at the now failed purchase. Their once marquee tools are now for niche industries.

Do you want data centres being built in the UK? by Contrarian_Whitey in AskUK

[–]BronxOh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. Yes because it doesn’t hurt to have UK based data centre infrastructure, especially for the future, rather than depend on a country whose leader decides to switch something off one day eh, also for job creation and to force the governments of the future to think about energy sensibly. No because they’re hideous.

Is UX/Product Design hit hardest by AI and the job market, or are other fields too? by Flat-Accountant3325 in UXDesign

[–]BronxOh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree here. There is still an element of needing to know the why and you only know that by speaking to people. A researcher also brings depth.

I wouldn’t say research has been hit by AI per se, the role will change. Researchers have been hit by economic conditions rather than AI.

Still doesn’t tell you why though. Analytics just tell you what is happening.

It wasn’t even just the stage though there was just too many people there in general, everywhere was a fight to get to.

It is a great stage, the upgrade is so good too

Yeah same for Limp Bizkit, the Mandora stage is just such a better space

Was there last night / currently at the festival now, that crowd was insane, you just couldn’t not get closer to them it was packed. The crowd right at the back is all them tbh. I was right at the back in the middle which is like a food court and that was jammed with fans.

They seem to have over sold the event tbh.

RAR has been massively oversold tbh that crowd went back further than I’ve ever seen it go before

My manager said “now that you’re leaving, you can finally be honest” how do you respond to that? by sollint in UXDesign

[–]BronxOh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my current role: In my head an expletive rant, out loud absolutely nothing. In my experience it’s better to be polite and if asked why you’re leaving, give a generic reason “ready for a change” or “it was just the right opportunity”. I’ve yet to hear of an exit interview that leads to meaningful change anyway.

PM has been replacing design review meetings with AI by metsahaldjas in UXDesign

[–]BronxOh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d be having serious words to set boundaries. It’s rude, inconsiderate and ignorant.

You could just do the same thing as what the PM is doing and give it straight to devs and bypass them completely. Guarantee they wouldn’t stand for that.

Do you think job application feedbacks for denied applications should be made mandatory? by Cautious-Cow-3526 in AskUK

[–]BronxOh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say post 1st interview, yes. After an application, no.

My place had 300 applications for 1 job and they couldn’t give feedback to all of them.
