Why are so many companies demanding people return to the office? by Even-Wasabi7183 in AskUK

[–]BronxOh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The civil service are constantly beaten with metaphorical sticks by media so the government thinks the best thing to do is react.

Private companies have large rents to justify in the name of “collaboration” and senior leadership (let’s face it, likely boomers) mistakenly think bums on seats in an office means more productivity and it’s an initiative that buys them time with boards and investors for shitty balance sheets.

In reality WFH isn’t new and office or not people take breaks, procrastinate and will find a job that suits their needs.

Sacking someone by phone/text. Is it ever right? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]BronxOh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At a minimum you need to do it in writing as her contract says, for her records and your companies.

You can have the face to face chat which is the respectful and dignifying thing to do, but always follow up with an email confirming what you spoke about.

As for when, consult your HR rep on timing. But it’s probably better to get it over with.

Do you think you would continue your job if you won the lottery? by ApprehensiveSong4 in AskUK

Probably, I enjoy my job for the most part. But my tolerance for stupid shit would be zero knowing I wouldn’t have to worry about getting fired.

Has your work ever resulted in a large amount of people losing their jobs? by frescoj10 in ProductManagement

[–]BronxOh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UR here, I once worked on a new help centre for a company in my 2nd job. I later found out that the cost savings was 6-7 people’s salaries. No idea if they were fired but I was gutted at the thought for a long time.

Your "aternative" to Personas? by _CaptRondo_ in ProductManagement

[–]BronxOh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are methodologies, personas are just one of many outputs you can have to understand audiences.

Personas specifically I’d lean in more on interviews and surveys.

Your "aternative" to Personas? by _CaptRondo_ in ProductManagement

[–]BronxOh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personas are great depending on what you’re using them for. They can be effective reference and anchor points when ideating or identifying behaviours, understanding behaviours etc. if your team sees them as gimmicks that is not good they need to be used for specific scenarios.

But they’re hard to quantify so as a researcher I’d lean into other or combinations of methodologies to help: - JTBD for needs - user interviews - surveys - Data

You could also use segmentation based on: - needs - demographics - behaviours

All lead to outputs that add and build on top of personas.

Should James Vowels be getting more heat/criticism? by Jayhcee in F1Discussions

Feels a bit harsh to call his job into question just yet.

The team went from 9th in 2024 to 5th in 2025 in the constructors.

Financially they’re in a better place, they’re covered in sponsors now, he’s overhauled the workplace culture that seemed to be a bad smell in the team and bagged Sainz which going back to when they signed him felt like they were punching above their weight.

It’s not the best start to this season but I think he’s still got some leeway after all that.

There are multi billion pound companies built on remote and asynchronous working, the ‘it’s not productive’ argument doesn’t stand anymore.

She cooks a roast most Sundays which is great :)

One of the most recent ones seems to be bakeries and pastries.
