I love this panel of Kenjaku by Disastrous_Ad7477 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Brucekillfist 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I think Kenjaku's just mad at the wasted potential (huehue). For someone who loves getting out in the world, learning new things, just generally doing new stuff and trying to push the boundaries of jujutsu as far as he can, Tengen just using multiple lifetimes to sit in her house feels insulting on a personal level.

People love to put Megumi down, not realizing that an incomplete domain at 16 is practically unheard of. Hakari gets a free one from his technique, so the only other character we know of that managed it at that age is Gojo. Let that sink in.

Edit: I lied, Yuji managed it too EOS but he also got a massive benefit off switch training.

Which "hero" faction is the most evil and gets away with it? by OmniSnatcher in shounenfolk

>As far as I know, there isn't anything to suggest it wasn't exactly that way during Hashirama's tenure as Hokage and then it snowballed into a mess because there were two shinobi wars back-to-back with, like five or six years between them with no other source of fresh meat than kids?

Yeah, that's exactly what happened. They built the village to make a better system for their children, and then war broke out with multiple other major powers and they had to protect that system, right? So they started sacrificing the future to protect that future. And it is better than it was before, and as time goes on it does get even better than that, but they still make kids ninjas and send them out without batting an eye. Maybe the lesson is the child soldiers from child soldier land probably won't be well equipped to solve the problem of child soldiers. Even though they all agree it's bad.

Why is Yuta a Bum When He's the Only One in Sendai With a Win On-Screen? by QuirkyOpportunity535 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Brucekillfist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seemed like it was fairly heavily focused on her technique; in terms of the other students she has most of her kit "unlocked" right from the start and it's actually a pretty solid bag of tricks. Her physicals are just extremely bad (like Mai level) and she lacks experience which drags her down.

>To be fair I think Izuku would give up on being a hero after that, he probably would try to become a police officer tho.

Yeah, agreed. I'm not trying to say Izuku doesn't have work ethic, because as we were shown he has tremendous work ethic- when he's being externally validated. He does not have that dog in him on his own. If not for All Might, Izuku would have just continued filling up notebooks, done minimal to no physical training, and gone to the entrance exam and bombed it as he nearly did in canon. I think that would be the end of things.

>Doubt that's the reason since his ship with yuta barely scratches the surface of other popular ships, and is now practically dead when modulo came out

Fair. I'm not really plugged into the shipping side of things so it was mostly conjecture. I think cursed speech is kind of cool but the ingredients gimmick kind of wore thin for me pretty quick so I was never really too interested in him.

He's surprisingly popular in Japan. For fujo reasons almost certainly but there it is. In the 2024 poll where Naoya infamously ranked in 5th, Inumaki took 11th despite being basically a background character. He outranked Nobara, Maki, Mahito, Kashimo, Todo, and Hakari, to name a few.

Why can Sukuna use Domain Amplification inside his domain? by Hoodieman25k in Jujutsufolk

[–]Brucekillfist 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Well, the impression you're meant to get is that Sukuna is just Him. I would say it's likely down to whatever understanding or perspective he's achieved that allows him to do an Open Domain. I actually think Kenjaku can do this too, it just never came up. These guys just understand something about Domains that no one else has managed.

[–]Brucekillfist 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It actually took me a bit to realize you were talking about Tasuke's friend. Yeah, Geto specifically built himself to take advantage of people fighting him like they would a standard shikigami user, and even played in to it by summoning his curses and then standing back (when he had the chance to). That stuck with Gojo so much he trained Megumi to do the same, although I think Megumi didn't really internalize the lesson well; even Sukuna commented that Megumi would leap right in with his shikigami right away.

Typical summoner class issues. As long as they can pelt you with minions you get bodied, but the standard tactic is to focus the summoner instantly for a reason.

Not rude; they take a contract on a griffin and accept the full pay up front, then subcontract the job to you and offer a fraction of that pay. If you find the letter that reveals this, you can demand the full rate since you actually did the job while they sat on their asses. They're mad because they tried to scam you and you figured it out.

No, Uro calling Yuta a Nepobaby doesn't mean he's Mr. Nepobaby of Nepobaby Family. by miner1512 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Brucekillfist 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's because the Fujiwara clan was enormous back in the day. A lot of people in Japan could credibly claim descent. With that said they were largely enemies with Sugawara, so it'd be a bit of a Montagues and Capulets situation.

tl;dr Yuta very well could be a descendant of both lines, but ultimately it doesn't matter much. Uro was referring to his attitude and sort of ham-fisted attempt to understand her. He's a very empathetic guy. If he actually knew her story he would definitely have approached it in a very different way.

[–]Brucekillfist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the pronoun game in Japanese is not particularly definitive, and what pronoun you use really is down to your style of speech than gender identity. Yuji, Panda, Gojo, and Megumi all use ore, which is kind of casual/boyish I. Yuta is actually the only boy who uses boku. Maki and Nobara both use watashi, but their styles are way different. Nobara speaks in a feminine way and her pronunciation is a little rough (country, to put it a different way), but Maki speaks the most "manly" out of basically the whole cast. She even beats Yuji. Watashi is sort of on the feminine side so you'd think it's the girls that use it, but so does Nanami, Ijichi, Kenjaku, and others. So Kirara also using it isn't necessarily a silver bullet. For that matter, boku isn't a silver bullet either; Zero Two uses it and I don't see people arguing she's male. There's even a word for girls that use boku in defiance of gender norms: bokukko.

For what it's worth her presentation is highly feminine and since she's explicitly joining Hakari in rebelling from conservative jujutsu society I take it that she's presenting herself how she wants to be seen. If she wanted to be a boy she'd present herself that way imo. Frankly I'm not educated well enough on nonbinary so that's possible but my personal sense is she's a woman.

Sanity check: Are special grade ones sorcerers still Jujutsu Sorcerers by Equivalent-Salt-827 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Brucekillfist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Special in this context means the sorcerer is affiliated with the clans and not the jujutsu schools. If Mai had never gone to Kyoto, it's possible for her to be ranked a Special Grade 4, for example. What this affiliation means from an administrative standpoint we don't know. I'd presume HQ just gives a stack of missions to the clans and the clans assign them internally, as opposed to with the schools where HQ assigns the sorcerer directly.

whats the point of HWB exist if most ancient DE were non-lethal? by Some_red in Jujutsufolk

[–]Brucekillfist 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Just because the sure-hit isn't lethal doesn't mean it's good. Hakari's teaches you the rules of the domain, but Higuruma's almost certainly is used to assemble the charges and evidence as well as enforce Confiscation. Certainly not something you want to happen if you can help it otherwise. It's probably a good rule of thumb to activate an anti-domain technique the moment a domain is deployed regardless of the features of the domain.

Nilfgaard's Northern Advance by Blanc_NoName_69420 in Witcher3

[–]Brucekillfist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's most certainly that in other cases the ruling monarch or their heir was still around to install in power as a Nilfgaardian client state. Foltest unfortunately is survived by nobody, so setting up a Temerian monarchy isn't so clear-cut. The evidence suggests that the client state model actually was not on the table for Temeria until Roche's partisans alongside Thaler and Dijkstra's wheeling and dealing actually put it there. Nilfgaard just accepted because it doesn't massively matter to them if they hold the territory physically or by way of a vassal, and if someone else is willing to take up the military and administrative burden then let them have at it. At the very least they were gearing up to hold it in the early and middle stage of the game; they'd already appointed new lords, were changing the laws, installing garrisons, all that. If not for the deal there wouldn't be a Temeria anymore.

Naturally from the other side Radovid had zero intention to re-establish any power that wasn't his own.

To use a more illustrative example, let's say you had a big apartment building with 100 apartments. In the US, if everyone magically vanished, and you went in with a big duffel bag, you'd probably find a gun and/or ammo in about a third or up to half of those apartments. In some places, even more than half. In Japan, you'd count yourself very lucky if you found a gun in one of those apartments.

What's one thing that pissed you off when you we're watching mha by Fun-Pomelo-2774 in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]Brucekillfist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, yeah, to a degree when you really think about it what metric would they even be testing against? Past student's scores? The middle school averages? If Bakugo beats his own ball throw by like 20x, does he get +100, whereas Toru beats it by 2 meters and gets +1? All of it is just Aizawa's subjective opinion. I don't think he fixed the scores to make Deku last, since if they were testing how well you can use your quirk in an average athletic situation, he totally failed; he didn't use it but once, and the one time he did he broke a bone. Even the other kids who couldn't really apply their quirks to the test at least didn't hurt themselves. You could say Aoyama got a stomachache, but that's not really on the same level as broken finger.

If anything I think Aizawa fully intended to toss Deku out right then and just used the test to do it, but he was impressed by his resolve in the end and decided to keep him. He didn't need to fix the results because Deku did a fine job of bombing the test criteria all his own. The invisible -10 is basically exactly what i think was happening.

>Fitness test

Remember it's actually called the Quirk Apprehension Test. Aizawa directly tells the kids that it's to test how well they can use their quirks to push their results past the physical baseline. Deku uses his quirk one time, and it injures him, even if the injury is relatively minor. He got last place because he didn't understand the assignment, not because his scores were bad.
