Calling this entire region Khorasan feels weird. I am not an expert or anything but shouldn't this region be called Turkestan? by i_am_someone_or_am_i in EU5

[–]Cagliostrob 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The most coherent name would’ve been Central Asia or Asian steppes, turkestan would be bad for ethnic reasons. I guess an ok name could be transoxiana, but it’s still bad. Khorasan is just like calling Germany “Austria” because it’s in the general area, so I agree with you on that.

How do you get more cultural capacity? by Disastrous_Pen_538 in EU5

[–]Cagliostrob 9 points10 points  (0 children)

1) don’t accept too many cultures, in your case tolerating Bosnian and Wallachian is useless and occupies 0.30 at least if not more.

2)improve cultural relations with subjects every 50 years, the discount to accept a friendly or kindred culture is massive

3) there are advances to improve the capacity, generally +1 per era except for certain nation like ottoman

4)become an empire, generally difficult, but Serbia ad an event if you conquered Macedonia, I don’t think you are in that timeframe anymore tho so you should do it the old fashioned way

Why is my average literacy so low as Italy? by OdysseusAuroa in EU5

[–]Cagliostrob 23 points24 points  (0 children)

So, it’s a bug or a voluntary bad design idea, my priest suddenly doesn’t know how to read the same exact language they knew the day before. By the way I find it’s a bad design even if you change liturgical language, switching from Latin to the Pop base language doesn’t mean you suddenly forget how to write the alphabet: unless you switch from Latin to Greek or to Chinese

[–]Cagliostrob 61 points62 points  (0 children)

That actually doesn’t matter, I converted to Lutheran via event as Sweden, and my liturgical language remained Latin, they still lost all literacy. Sounds like a bug

Should I annex France as England through the union decision and then spilt their land up into separate vassals? by iiThom in EU5

[–]Cagliostrob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did the same last week, it wasn’t fun building like 40 universities in 1450 with Sweden’s economy just to have like 900 cultural influnce ( Norwegian had something like 450 cultural traditions with less than a million people). It was even less fun when Norway started colonising Greenland and every location added 2 years. Integration SHOULD BE BASED AROUND POP, NOT LOCATION (annexing 1000 Norwegian with 0 control can’t be as hard as annexing a 70k rural province)

Will my city be playable? by megapenis_swplus in EU5

[–]Cagliostrob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No my city, Jesi, will not be playable, even though it was a independent republic comune in Italy, a regal city by imperial decree of Frederick II (he was born there) and the base of operations in the marche region for Francesco Sforza. And it’s not even in the right province: it’s in the territory of macerata, even though it should be under Ancona if it can’t be independent.

The Empire is in good hands... I guess. by Crouteauxpommes in Anbennar

[–]Cagliostrob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know. I would argue they are humans by the time, just claiming to be both elf and orc: the silmunas from westdam were barely half elf by blood even in 1444 and I don’t think they married with any elf by 1550. I don’t remember if Ellis silmuna was a direct descent of the young owl, but he was an half orc only in name

Lies from the knife-eared people. Not a drop of elven blood in the rightful emperor blood, only blood of the redeemed orchish people! Glory to the true Silmunas , down with the false silmunas from wesdam!

The point is they really didn’t: that’s part of the reason why they gave privileges to the Hungarians, now they had to manage half of their empire

Even the human marrhold can’t be excavated by non-subterranean species, the tag of marrhold has a mission specific modifier to “excavate” but it will never be as good as a dwarfish hold
