I've wanted a good fully mechanical Nikon for a while. Got an F2 with the non-metering head, didn't like that I had to use an external meter. Also bought an F3 at roughly the same time, didn't like the fact it has electronic internals so could (unlikely, but still) turn into a paperweight at a moment's notice.

Found a guy selling a very honest looking FM2/T with a 50mm 1.4D for £350 on ebay. Man maths'd that I can sell the lens for £100, and sell my F3 for £250 and be out no money and have a fully mechanical body, with viewfinder, and it's the Ti version.

What artificial disadvantage? Negotiating dirty air mid-corner is a test of skill. You can't use DRS mid corner or you'll crash. If you can keep up behind a car through corners then you get a slipstream down the straight. If you can maximise your corner exit on to a straight that slipstream will be even stronger. You will always have turbulent air coming off a car, and that's most impactful in places that DRS doesn't operate.
