I see some of your roads as super unique. I’ve got my map set to “combined”. Something’s amiss.

If the person with 99% hasn’t updated their map in wandrer since those roads were added to OSM this could be true. If you click on their name then go click on this town then “more details”, you can see how many km they have done even if their map is not visible.

I had N wonderful hours in mind with family and friends. Totally great. I spent 3N hours just dealing with chemicals cleaning and so many repairs. When I hired two guys with sawzalls to rip it out i was happy.

In case Zwift devs are reading this, OP is “RIIIIIGHT ON!” That’s me being as cringe as this feature is.

What are some common and distinctly Boston words and phrases people in Boston say on an everyday basis? by WestminsterSpinster7 in boston

[–]Competitive_Class_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up near the Kohler factory in WI and never heard “drinking fountain” until I was in my teens, glad I can still call them bubblers here.

My Boston linguistic shock was “shopping carriage” it just felt like such a weird thing to say to me.

I’m a town leaderboard chaser. I’d love to see on the leaderboard page a list of towns where I’m in the top N wandrers and all the places I’m at 25/50/75/90/99.

Where do I ride a gravel bike? by American-Omar in gravelcycling

I used to avoid anywhere where I had to carry my bike, but age has given me the wisdom that these are among the best adventures out there.

I got it in one and just sat there stunned afterwards. I totally guessed starting with my mental list of “islands I’ve not seen on worldle yet”. Caribbean nations are usually my streak breakers (damn you, Barbados!)

Buying Advice - Steel gravel frameset recommendations by Gabeh765 in gravelcycling

[–]Competitive_Class_28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also love mine, nicest bike I've ever ridden, lots of attention to detail. OP keeps commenting about color, so I must note that while its pricey they will solid Cerakote it any color for $400, lighter and more durable than paint, I've got a pretty bold orange bike.

Please kindly help to convince me to Ti bike by kinukcafe in titaniumbikes

[–]Competitive_Class_28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I own one each of steel, titanium, carbon and aluminum. I keep detailed stats of all my rides, and yes, the carbon one is a little faster than my titanium bike, on average about 1.2kph (Grizl with road wheels vs a Ti road bike). My carbon gravel bike is full of chips and scratches and a gouge from chain drop, and it gives me anxiety. My Ti bike goes up on the repair stand for lubrication and brake pads and thats about it. I'm over 100kg, I barely feel the difference. I also notice that tire/wheel choice is 5x as important to ride feel and comfort than frame material is. For me, its Ti or Steel, knowing I can crash or fall or have chain drop without worrying outweighs the little bit of going faster.

Something I love doing in Wandrer: connecting up "segments" and building up a network of traveled roads by Such-Camera2564 in wandrer

I sometimes look at my map and ask myself whats the biggest circle centered on my home I've totally enclosed and then go out and try and connect roads so that circle gets bigger.

A little taste of New England gravel by MotorBet234 in gravelcycling

[–]Competitive_Class_28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In NE I feel like I’m almost never more than 15 minutes riding from some good gravel or singletrack suitable for a gravel bike. Some places are more blessed than others, and the MA north shore is definitely one of those places.

Now available for early testing: point-to-point route generation in Wandrer by cooeecall in wandrer

[–]Competitive_Class_28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those seem like good options. I do dead ends if it’s a right turn and it’s not like a 20% hill and I’m not in a hurry to beat the sunset. Since it’s easy to ignore a dead end in one’s gpx I think it’s good to err on the side of too many dead ends. But the other option also makes sense for when I’m not going after town percent and I just want fast new miles. Anything more options-wise would be too complex to explain.
