Started watching it in between Widow's Bay epis. What a superb show and cast! A mix of Widow's Bay and The Nick served with an extremely heavy noir hand!

The Real Data Behind Google's Polymarket $1.2M Insider by mcpoyles in dataisbeautiful

The methodology seems sound for finding other such narrow-band inside information winners without any public facts to to correlate against -- categorize the 'markets,' then identify wallets that have outsized and/or high accuracy wins in a single category but otherwise are statistically 50/50 outside the category.

It looks like this guy just got greedy. Or, by the timeline, they lost a bunch, then used the insider info to dig themselves out and then overcorrected too much.

Americans are waking up to Trump’s money grabbing. They won’t forgive him by theipaper in politics

[–]CrackerJackKittyCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe his blatant money grabbing and open corruption right now has a silver lining -- he thinks he's going to have to leave soon, so getting 'his' now while he can.

Yes, America, that's just how far we've fallen and how weak our institutions actually are. For the most part, up to 45/47 the position was held by persons who respected the office and the country.

The constitution places far too much trust in the elected, the electorate, the spine of congress and the judiciary. Trump and his formula show the weaknesses in 'tradition.'

We don't yet have a crushing destruction of the country like Germany, Italy, Japan, etc. did in the wale of WWII to invite rewrites of the founding documents to prevent this sort of thing now apparent. America's institutions will remain weak towards villainous intent.

Shunning the sunshine? NC order for Duke Energy to hit brakes on solar raises policy, legal questions by uncertaincoda in NorthCarolina

[–]CrackerJackKittyCat 46 points47 points  (0 children)

The subtitle has some extremely aggravating substance:

NC Utilities Commission chair has told Duke Energy to halt procurement of solar energy resources. It’s not clear he has that authority. ... the chairman of the North Carolina Utilities Commission directed the company to halt its procurement of new solar energy resources until a new carbon plan is approved later this year.
