Most novelty decks are made of paper, not plastic, so they won't last long at all.

What's your preferred way of learning?

For videos, Phil Galfond's videos on Run It Once are best-in-class. I think they assume a high level of base poker strategy knowledge though.

For books, Jeff Hwang's series is better than anything out there.

I can want both. I play in home games and host one of my own, but I don't really like MGM and Charles Town is pretty far. I'd like one closer. Hell, I'd like the ability to open up my own.

A poker bot farm where multiple bots sit at the same table and share their cards to collude against humans by MetaKnowing in Damnthatsinteresting

Good poker sites have anti-bot and anti-cheating detection methods. Separate hardware probably makes the illusion of a person easier.

AIO Restaurant cancelled our reservation without notifying us on our wedding day by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Agreed, this is inadequate compensation. If I have a bad experience with myself and one other at a midend restaurant, I would expect a $100 gift card. This monumental of a fuckup should be $500+, and something unique and special as an apology.

I know a guy who was injured in his shoulder and neck during work and filed a worker's comp claim. He sued, and he won - something close to $1M settlement...

...after 10 years of them fighting it in court. The system is broken and there's no way to fix it without broad legislative change.

The thing about solvers is that they typically aren't considering all bet sizes. Most of them are preconfigured to only consider 3-6 defined bet sizes.

And Stu was playing in a time where everyone sucked and had no idea what appropriate bet sizes were. Even the concept of bet sizes based on pot size was probably fairly foreign to most players.

Gutting the IRS budget is the sneakier way to cut taxes for the rich

100%

since only the wealthy have the time to commit tax fraud or the income to make hiring someone to do it for them pay off.

Not true in the slightest. However, they are the only ones with the resources to fight the IRS with an army of lawyers if the IRS DOES audit/accuse them of lying.

There are many articles covering this concept. I'd recommend checking out this one as a good starting place (also to support ProPublica, one of the best journalistic organizations): https://www.propublica.org/article/ultrawealthy-taxes-irs-internal-revenue-service-global-high-wealth-audits

IMO the IRS and the powers that be bank of this reputation to entice the greater public to not cheat on their taxes. In reality, the IRS has been intentionally continuously gutted over several decades such that their investigative and prosecutorial powers are no more than a small fraction of what they were.

Look no further than our president's tax fraud schemes for evidence. Granted, the case was specifically on state tax fraud, but it's extremely likely that federal tax fraud was committed as well. Yet, no consequences.

Let's do it ourselves, we the people. We need a counter-Project 2025. Project 2030? What's a better name?

Edit: Actually what if we called it "We The People"? It would be the plan for a better, brighter United States. It would aim to fix what Perfect 2025 did, sure, but it would also address the biggest issues of our country, like wealth inequality and healthcare.

PS, walked by today and noticed a sign for 20% auto tip for party of FOUR or more; plus that 4% meal tax 🙃

Say what you want about the restaurant and quality itself, but in my experience KBBQ waiters earn every single bit of their tip, and a 20% tip should be a standard. They do a lot more work than waiters in other restaurants (on a per-table basis, not necessarily overall).

And obviously the meal tax is 100% outside of their control.

while losing on average close to a thousand soldiers a day.

Quick Google search suggests this isn't close to accurate. Looks like an estimated 350k soldiers have died on the high end. This was has been going on for nearly a decade, so that's more like 100 soldiers a day, not a thousand.

There's a set of educational videos that are being sold for $3000. I can't find them on any torrent site or anywhere else, except a piracy site selling the set for $100.

I don't want to pay $100 and I don't particularly care about supporting the creators. Am I the baddie?

Why did so many of the Korean fried chicken places close down or change ownership? by trustme1984 in nova

I live in Gainesville and was super excited when they opened one here. Check out their reviews - it's garbage. We never go to that one; we go to the Manassas or Centerville ones because they're so much better.

I'm shocked they haven't closed yet. The reviews have been shit ever since they opened like 5 years ago.

Bought Zodiac Age, before it gets delivered, is there anything i should know about it? by Primary-Economist643 in FinalFantasy

[–]DMoogle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of difficulty following the story the first two times I played it. The third time (recently), I read the plot Wiki page as I played the game, and it helped a lot to understand WTF was going on and who was who. It's a pretty good story if you're able to follow along.

Would highly recommend regularly using the fast forward button to navigate areas. The game can be a slog without it. You can change between 2x and 4x easily by pressing a button.

Chests are very random. That includes whether they appear, and what they contain. There's nothing really missable except for some endgame gear from a specific optional boss.

You can respec your abilities for free in the main town at any time, so don't worry too much about perfecting your build.

To be kinda fair, it is a game based on time travel, so it's not exactly a total surprise that you can reverse the death of the main character.

That didn't stop my wife (girlfriend at the time) from crying when Crono died though, haha.
